Enshrouded: Explore Westcott Walkthrough (The Hunter’s Hand Spindle)

The “Explore Westcott” objective belongs to The Hunter’s Hand Spindle, a quest that sends you to recover a tool the Hunter lost near the ruined town of Westcott. The objective itself is marked Easy, and it ends the moment you read a lore scroll inside one of the town’s stone houses.

Quick answer: Fast travel to Ancient Spire – Springlands, glide northwest through the Enshrouded Elixir Well valley, climb up to Westcott, break into the two-story stone house near the entrance, and read Martha’s Diary on the top floor.

Requirements before starting Explore Westcott

The “Lost Hand Spindle” dialogue option appears on the Hunter after you finish the earlier quests Growing Stronger Together and Salt Mine Location. Talking to her and selecting that option begins The Hunter’s Hand Spindle and sets the Explore Westcott waypoint northwest of the Ancient Spire – Springlands.

Your route passes through red shroud, so raise your Flame Altar to level 3 before you set out. Without it, that stretch of fog cannot be cleared and you will be forced to turn back.

Route from Ancient Spire – Springlands to Westcott

Westcott sits to the far north-northwest of the Springlands starting area. The fastest approach uses the spire as a launch point and a glider to cover most of the distance.

Open your map, select Ancient Spire – Springlands, and fast travel there. The Explore Westcott waypoint shows up to the northwest.

Step off the spire balcony and glide northwest over the green hills and valleys below. Hold your heading toward the waypoint marker as you descend.

After landing, cross the ridgeline on foot and glide down into the misty valley ahead. This drops you toward the shroud-covered zone around the Elixir Well.

Move through the Enshrouded Elixir Well, following the ruined road past broken wagons and barricades. Keep your pace up while the shroud timer is running.

Exit the shroud uphill and climb the rocky ledges to the northwest. The ruined buildings of Westcott appear at the top of the cliffs.

Walking into the settlement triggers the “Search this area” banner at the top of the screen. This is the start of the search portion of the objective.

Find Martha’s Diary inside the stone house

The scroll you need is on the upper floor of a two-story stone house near the entry side of the town. You will recognize it by its open, blown-off roof. Inside, wooden barricades block the way to the stairs, so bring a tool or weapon that can smash through them.

Open the intact front wooden door and step into the ground floor of the stone house.

Equip a Scrappy Axe (or any weapon) and destroy the two barricaded wooden doorways blocking the back of the room.

Pass through to the stone staircase and climb to the open terrace on top. Interact with the glowing red scroll on the wooden table to read Martha’s Diary, First Entry of Midyear, 503 D.A.

A second entry of the diary sits on the first floor of the same building, in the kitchen, if you want the rest of the lore. Only the first entry is required to clear the objective.

How to confirm the objective is complete

Reading the first entry resolves the search immediately. You will see a “Waypoint reached” confirmation, the lore page General: Tavern Stories is added to your journal, and the quest advances to its next objective.

From here, the quest points you to an abandoned hunter’s camp north-northwest of Westcott. Head inside and read the note there to continue toward recovering the Hand Spindle itself.
