In Enshrouded’s main story, Vorgoth is the final boss, encountered at the Mother Flame Receptacle within The Ancient Citadel. He has two forms, each with its own health bar, and a cautious approach works better than constant attacks. Stay mobile, evade rather than exchange blows, and wear him down from a distance.

Quick answer: Reach The Ancient Citadel through the “Reach The Ancient Capital” quest, then stay mobile against both Vorgoth forms, firing a wand from mid range and dropping a Fireball III from the Staff of Guidance on clear windows.

Reach the arena in The Ancient Citadel

The fight sits at the end of the “Cinders Of The End” quest line. The path there runs through the quest “Reach The Ancient Capital” (difficulty Moderate), which begins once you teleport up to the floating isles of Cinder’s Cradle from Cinder’s Ascent.

Glide and ride the updrafts between the floating islands until you reach MANATHOR’S PLAZA. Charting it gives you the “NEW LOCATION CHARTED” prompt and XP +600.
A barrier blocks the route forward. Find the two magenta rune switches with the “Use” prompt, both on the upper level and outer ledge of the plaza rather than down in the lower levels. Using the second one triggers “BARRIER UNLOCKED”.
Glide over the gap and arrive at THE ANCIENT CITADEL, where another “NEW LOCATION CHARTED” message awards XP +600. The objective is now “Defeat Vorgoth”.

Arrive at full health and fully supplied. You can die several times and simply retry from the arena.

Form 1: Vorgoth, Champion of the Shroud

The opening phase takes place on a broad, round balcony, with floor gratings and a fence lining its perimeter. His health bar is labeled “Vorgoth, Champion of the Shroud” and displays no level. Fight on the clear floor, maintain space, and watch for the signals that precede his attacks.

  • Horizontal purple beam: He first gathers energy in front of himself, then sends the beam sweeping sideways over the floor. Roll through the attack or run laterally to escape its line.
  • Blue shroud tentacles: Tall tentacles form a circle as they rise around him. Wand shots register as INEFFECTIVE, so cast Fireball with the Staff of Guidance or retreat until the attack ends.
  • Mist and ice eruptions: Blue-green mist covers the floor panels before columns of ice shoot upward. Get clear of the mist and stand in the spaces between the columns, or glide above them.
  • Lunge and slam: He either drives straight forward in a thrust—roll sideways to avoid it—or jumps and crashes down with a shockwave. Move away or roll aside, then punish the opening.
  • Healing channel: He pauses with his sword raised and a glow around him as energy flows into his body. Take advantage of this moment by closing in and dealing heavy wand damage rather than holding back.

For this phase, use a wand with the “Wand Special” prompt to fire rapidly, and keep Fireball III on the Staff of Guidance for the tentacles. The spell list also includes “Protective Barrier”. The ledges above the arena are no safe place to camp: tentacles and enemies appear there and force you back down.

When the first health bar empties, the arena shifts and the second form begins.

Form 2: Vorgoth, the Wanderer’s Vessel

The arena goes dark and blue, an ENSHROUDED timer appears under the area name, and blue shroud wraith adds begin to show up. The boss bar now reads “Vorgoth, the Wanderer’s Vessel”.

  • Blue sweep: A glowing limb lifts, then cuts across the floor. Evade by rolling backward or through the sweep, then counter with your wand.
  • Purple orb: A swirl forms in the air as it charges, then flies across the arena. Dodge it with a sideways roll.
  • Ground eruption: Blue light spreads out around him before energy geysers erupt. Remain at mid range and outside their reach.
  • His rear-and-lunge move has him draw back before charging forward; with the slam attack, he strikes the ground and sends rings spreading outward. Backpedal with a strafe, or leap and glide over the rings.
  • Twin beams: Blue and purple beams travel forward in sweeping paths across the floor. Move continuously through the gap separating them.
  • Blue pillars near the walls: Use an Updraft to glide along the outer wall and escape a burst, while remaining within the arena boundary.

After you leave a fight, bosses regain health gradually rather than resetting in one go. If you die, return quickly to keep some of the damage you’ve already inflicted.

Rewards and how you know it worked

The kill is confirmed by two on-screen prompts: “QUEST UPDATED – Cinders Of The End – Rescue The Mother Flame” and “SPECIAL ITEM ACQUIRED! SHROUD VESSEL’S GREATSWORD”. A story cinematic then plays, with a Skip option (ESC).
