Ectoplasm Crystal is a Level 25 crafting material that drops from the Hollow enemies packed inside the Kindlewastes Hollow Halls. It only appears in that dungeon, and reaching it depends on a key you have to craft after finishing an earlier Hollow Halls in the Nomad Highlands.

Quick answer: Craft the Kindlewastes Bone Key, open the Kindlewastes Hollow Halls northeast of Ancient Spire – Kindlewastes, and loot the skeletons and Hollow enemies inside for Ectoplasm Crystals.

What you need before farming Ectoplasm Crystal

The dungeon doors in the Kindlewastes Hollow Halls stay locked until you have the right key. Getting that key has one prerequisite of its own, so the order matters.

  • Finishing the Nomad Highlands Hollow Halls makes the Kindlewastes Bone Key recipe available.
  • Craft the Kindlewastes Bone Key, a Level 23 tool that opens the doors inside the Kindlewastes Hollow Halls.
  • Gear suited to Level 25 content, since the enemies in the dungeon are tuned for that level.

The Kindlewastes Bone Key uses Ectoplasm Shard and Giant Bones from the earlier Nomad Highlands run, so clear that dungeon thoroughly before moving on.

Reach the Kindlewastes Hollow Halls

Fast travel to Ancient Spire – Kindlewastes. The Hollow Halls entrance sits a short distance north and northeast of the Spire, in the eastern part of the region. Open your map and look for the Hollow Halls marker near the Spire icon.

Travel to the entrance and use the Kindlewastes Bone Key on the locked door. Without the key in your inventory, the door will not open and you cannot start the run.

Head inside and fight through the waves of Hollow enemies and skeletons. Each defeated enemy can be searched for loot, and crystals drop in stacks, often three at a time.

How much you can farm in one run

The dungeon is dense with enemies, so a full clear is worthwhile when you need a large supply. Searching corpses along the way also yields Salt and Bones. A complete sweep can produce 200 or more Ectoplasm Crystals and takes roughly an hour. The material stacks up to 500 per inventory slot, so a single run barely fills one stack.

You know the run worked when crystals appear in the loot window as you search each enemy and the count climbs in your inventory. If the door will not open, confirm the Kindlewastes Bone Key is in your inventory and that you finished the Nomad Highlands Hollow Halls to learn its recipe.

What Ectoplasm Crystal is used to craft

Ectoplasm Crystal feeds a short list of recipes, from a refined material to a set of Iron Crypt furniture pieces. The furniture is built at the Collector, while the refined material uses the Ectoplasm Press.

Resin, Charcoal and Iron Bars are the common partners across the furniture recipes, so keep those stocked alongside your crystals. Excellent Ectoplasm instead pairs the crystals with Torn Cloth, Fabric and Coal Powder. Since the Hollow Halls hand out so many crystals per clear, one trip usually covers every one of these builds with plenty to spare.
