Advanced Glider

Gliding is how you cover distance in Enshrouded, so every upgrade matters. The Ghost Glider sits at the top of the crafted line. It is a Legendary, level 30 tool locked in a golden chest near the summit of the Sun Temple in Kindlewastes. Once you loot it, the Carpenter can build more.

Quick answer: Fast travel to the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire, head south past Scatterbone to the Sun Temple, climb to the top floor, and open the golden chest.

Ghost Glider stats compared to other Enshrouded gliders

GliderRangeSpeedStamina per second
Advanced Glider (Rare, level 10)150%154
Extraordinary Glider (Epic, level 20)200%205
Ghost Glider (Legendary, level 30)250%255

Among these three, the Ghost Glider has the most range and the highest speed. It does not cost more to fly. It drains stamina at the same rate as the Extraordinary Glider, so you get an extra 50 percentage points of range and 5 more speed at no added stamina cost. The Advanced Glider is the cheapest to keep in the air, at one point less per second.

The other two gliders unlock through crafting progress. The Advanced Glider recipe appears when you pick up Linen, and it is also a reward from the quest A Graceful Flight. The Extraordinary Glider unlocks when you pick up Leather. The Ghost Glider is the only one of the three that you must first find in the world.

Quest chain behind the Ghost Glider: Among The Bluejays

The Ghost Glider is tied to the Alchemist’s quest Among The Bluejays, which sends you to the Scatterbone camp in Kindlewastes. That quest only shows up after a longer chain of requirements:

Player with a hammer stands on cobblestones before a stone Flame altar, with a recipe unlocked notice at left.
A recipe unlock notice for Glider (+5 more) at Workbench appears beside the Flame altar, with the Building Shelter quest shown.
  • Upgrade the Flame Altar to level 5. This turns the red shroud in Kindlewastes blue, so you can pass through it.
  • Finish two prerequisite quests from other Survivors.
  • Complete Sun Temple Stories, which the Carpenter gives you.
  • Collect Among The Bluejays from the Alchemist.

You can reach the chest before any of this. Players have run from Cinder Vault to Kindlewastes with a basic glider and stayed out of the red fog the whole way. That shortcut has a real cost, though.

If you loot the Ghost Glider before you receive Among The Bluejays, the Alchemist’s quest can no longer be completed.

What to bring to the Sun Temple

The Sun Temple and the abandoned town in front of it are level 30 areas. Expect Scavengers, a Scavenger Matron, undead inside the temple, Dragon Birds on the upper floors, and traps. If your gear is below level 30, you will want to avoid most fights. Pack these before you leave:

  • A bow and plenty of arrows, since several temple switches must be shot.
  • At least one Lockpick, for a metal door near the top.
  • A Grappling Hook for the upper climb.
  • A pickaxe, such as the Bronze Pickaxe, if you want to dig past the ground-floor puzzle.
  • One or two unplaced Flame Altars, to create a respawn and fast travel point on the way.

Check the map before you set out and confirm you have free altar slots. On the skill tree, Double Jump and Updraft make the trip much easier. Updraft gives you one small height boost per flight when you press jump while gliding.

Skill tree with a Double Jump tooltip marked Locked, describing a second jump in midair and an unlock prompt.
Hovering over Double Jump in the Skills tree shows that it is Locked, allows jumping a second time while airborne, costs 10 Stamina and can be unlocked with SPACE for 7 / 2 skill points.

Route from the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire to the Sun Temple

Fast travel to the Ancient Spire in Kindlewastes. If you have not activated it yet, you will have to walk or glide in from wherever you last unlocked travel.
Jump from the top of the spire and glide south toward the southern edge of the map. On maximum draw distance, the Sun Temple is visible from the spire.
When you lose altitude, follow the high ridgelines and cliff paths. Keep checking the map for safer passages, because good launch points are scarce. Steer clear of red shroud if your Flame Altar is below level 5.

A shirtless red-haired character stands in a grassy field near ruined stone walls and wooden spikes as the Axe recipe unlocks and the quest ‘Build A Flame Altar’ is tracked.
Pass the Scatterbone ruins and continue to the large temple directly behind them. Find a raised rock shelf outside, where you can shoot the Scavenger Matron from safety or slip past her.
Place a Flame Altar on that ridge. If anything goes wrong inside, you can respawn right outside the temple.

Reaching the Ghost Glider chest inside the Sun Temple

Shoot the button emblems beside the main gate. Then turn around and shoot the one on the back of the archway that faces the temple. The front doors open once every button is hit.
On the ground floor, trigger the four switches that open the stairway gate. One is hidden behind a bookshelf in front of the door, one is on the southeast balcony, one is shot through a hole on the west side, and one sits high on the wall in the southwest corner.
If you would rather skip the puzzle, mine through the thin stone wall next to the corridor. That puts you straight into the central staircase.
Climb the stairs to the upper levels. When the path seems to end, look up for a Grappling Hook anchor.
Open the upper balcony’s metal double door with a Lockpick, then climb the enclosed stairs while fending off the Dragon Birds.
Open the glowing golden chest in the highest interior chamber, one floor below the roof, to collect the Ghost Glider.

Skipping the temple interior

The chest is so high up that you can reach it from outside. One approach is to dig a path up the canyon to the west with your pickaxe, or chip footholds into the cliff, and then glide across onto the temple roof. Another is to place a Flame Altar nearby and build stairs and platforms toward the top. From there, any glider can carry you onto the tower so you can drop down to the chest floor. With Updraft, you can also glide from the rocks beside the temple to a higher floor and bypass most of the puzzles.

Confirming the unlock and crafting more Ghost Gliders

Opening the chest adds the Ghost Glider to your inventory and unlocks its recipe at the Carpenter. You can confirm both things at once. Equip it in the Glider slot on the Character screen, then check that the Carpenter now lists it. After that, fast travel home.

Each craft produces one glider. It uses Shroud Wood, Fabric, Enshrouded Oil, Sulfur and String. Enshrouded Oil is made at the Laboratory, and its recipe appears once you pick up Coal Powder. You can make as many as you need for a co-op partner or as backups.

Crafting menu with the Workbench recipe selected, listing String 3/3 and Wood Logs 12/8 as required resources.
The Crafting menu in Enshrouded shows the Workbench recipe under Essentials, needing String and Wood Logs.

The Ghost Glider must be crafted under a roof. A Carpenter standing in the open will not build it until the station has shelter.
