Enshrouded: Where to Find Metal Scraps Early at Rookmore

The quickest early-game route to the Scavenger camp, plus the verified crafting uses for every scrap you collect.

The quickest early-game route to the Scavenger camp, plus the verified crafting uses for every scrap you collect.

In Enshrouded, Metal Scraps are an early priority: the Blacksmith uses them to craft a Scrappy Sword, a Spiked Club, and your first armor. For a quick haul, glide a short distance from your starting base to Rookmore, a ruined Scavenger settlement where foes drop scraps and camp wreckage contains more.

Quick answer: Glide to Rookmore, northwest across the Braelyn Bridge chasm from your starting Flame Altar, then defeat Scavengers and loot bodies, piles, and metal cages to collect Metal Scraps.

What Metal Scraps are

A Springlands crafting resource, Metal Scraps have a Level 5 tag and a stack limit of 250, letting a full Rookmore run fit into one inventory slot. Their description calls them metal remnants that outlasted humanity’s downfall; early recipes for the Blacksmith and Forge use them directly.

Once you collect your first Metal Scraps, you can craft both items: use the Forge to melt scraps into Metal Sheets for easier working, or have the Blacksmith hammer them into Nails for construction and weapon upgrades.

Reach Rookmore from your Flame Altar

Rookmore lies north-northwest of your starting altar, beyond the chasm by Braelyn Bridge. Glide from the tall cliffs near your home base and you can land at the settlement gate.

Check the Forge Weaponry or Armor quest in your Journal. It verifies that Metal Scraps are required, highlights a collection point on the map, and grants 150 XP when finished.
Use the World Map to locate the markers near Braelyn Bridge and your base. Follow them toward Rookmore instead of setting off in the wrong direction.

Pass the Blacksmith as you leave base, then make your way to the cliff edge. Jump from the high ground, deploy your glider, and descend onto the settlement entrance below.

Touching down at Rookmore reveals the location and grants access to the Scavenger Bonfire and several additional Workbench recipes, making the journey useful before you collect any loot.

Loot and mine Metal Scraps inside Rookmore

Scavengers patrol the camp and attack on sight. Clearing them and sweeping the camp covers your first crafting needs in a single run. Bring a Scrappy Pickaxe so you can break the metal nodes and cages as well as loot the bodies.

Enter through the front gate and search the first skeleton and debris pile on the stone road. This early find yields Wood Logs, a Bandage, and your first batch of Metal Scraps, often around six at once.

Move deeper past the bonfire toward the wooden barrels and loot the next pile in the camp yard. Expect more Metal Scraps here alongside Animal Fur.

Equip the Scrappy Pickaxe and destroy the loose scrap metal node on the ground. Breaking it drops Stone and Springlands Dirt along with more Metal Scraps.

In the ruined stone room, use your pickaxe on the upright iron prisoner cages. You’ll get several scraps from each—four to six—so breaking all three builds your stack quickly.

As you climb the terraces, look out for a floor trap and disarm it on the way up. Enemies on the upper levels provide more scraps, often alongside Torn Cloth for your early armor.

Other ways to get Metal Scraps

After the opening hours, you can find Metal Scraps beyond Rookmore. They come from multiple enemy types, metal objects you can smash, and pods in Ancient Vaults.

  • A kill yields 0–1 scrap from each of these foes: Scavenger Scrapgun, Scavenger Wolf, Scavenger Berserker, and Scavenger Scalper.
  • A Hollow Soldier can give 0–1 scrap; a Hollow Reaper’s drop ranges from 0 to 3.
  • Knock scraps loose from metal camp items—including crates and barrels—using an axe or pickaxe.
  • Break open the metal pods found inside the Ancient Vault – Blacksmith to collect scraps.

What to craft with Metal Scraps

Take your scraps to the Blacksmith and craft a weapon or armor piece to finish the quest. Metal Scraps also go into tools, the Forge, and various building parts. Early Blacksmith weapons and tools have a Level 5 tag and deal 17 damage.

The Scrappy Sword is a blunt blade built to open up lines of enemies, while the Spiked Club is a reinforced upgrade of the basic Club. The Scrappy Axe adds durability and efficiency over the starter Axe and carries Lumberjack and Stamina perks. Beyond weapons, scraps also produce Nails and Metal Sheets, and furniture such as the Camp Bed, Brazier, and Carved Wooden Door.

Confirm the trip worked

You know the run succeeded when your Metal Scraps stack climbs with each Scavenger and container you clear, and the quest log updates the moment you craft an item at the Blacksmith. Open the World Map afterward and the player marker sits northwest of Braelyn Bridge inside Rookmore, confirming you reached the right camp.

You can also bypass crafting: defeating the Elixir Well completes the Forge Weaponry or Armor quest, and your collected scraps can go straight toward your gear.
