Marriage is now fully playable in Fields of Mistria. The 1.0 update lifted the relationship cap from four hearts all the way to 10 and added the complete romance arc on top, so you can court a villager, propose, hold a wedding, and raise children. The path is the same for every player, and any friendships from an older save carry over.
Quick answer: Take a romance candidate to Heart Level 10, read the scroll Elsie mails you the next morning to learn the Engagement Ring recipe, craft the ring, then give it to that villager to propose. A customizable wedding follows.
What you need before you can propose
Two things gate the wedding: your heart level with the villager and the Engagement Ring. Everything else follows from those.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Heart Level 10 | The top of the meter. Reached through daily talks, loved gifts, and dates. |
| Engagement Ring | Crafted from a recipe Elsie mails you the morning after you hit 10 hearts. |
| 10-heart event | Your candidate’s big scene, which hands you a keepsake. |

All 12 marriage candidates and where to find them
Every candidate is open to you regardless of the character you play. Caldarus and Seridia sat behind question marks during Early Access and only became fully romanceable at 1.0.

| Candidate | Who they are and where to look |
|---|---|
| Adeline | Town leader, near the Manor House or the town fountain. |
| Balor | Traveling merchant, sets up his cart by the event board or General Store. |
| Caldarus | The dragon guardian tied to your farm’s shrine. Unlocked at 1.0. |
| Celine | Lives in the cottage in Mistria’s southeast corner, sometimes at the Inn. |
| Eiland | Adeline’s brother, around the Manor House or the Museum. |
| Hayden | Runs Sweetwater Farm, right next to your plot. |
| Juniper | Runs the Bathhouse, wanders town off the clock. |
| March | A smith at the Blacksmith Shop, prickly until you warm him up. |
| Reina | Works at the Sleeping Dragon Inn, run by her family. |
| Ryis | The carpenter who took over the Carpenter’s Shop. |
| Seridia | The second previously hidden candidate, opened up at 1.0. |
| Valen | The town doctor, at the clinic by day and the Inn later. |
Raising hearts and starting to date
Hearts climb the same way they always have. Talk to your chosen villager every day and give them gifts they like. Loved gifts move the meter the most, liked gifts help a little, and a favorite present handed over on their birthday gives a big spike. Elsie’s gossip can point you toward what someone wants if you are unsure.
As hearts rise, dating opens up and the romantic route splits from plain friendship. You can pursue several villagers at once while you decide, so there is no harm in keeping options open early. Reaching the full 10 hearts takes a while, so expect steady gifting before anyone is ready for a proposal.
How to get married, from 10 hearts to the ceremony
Note: Nothing is locked in until you actually hand over the ring. You can trigger every candidate’s 10-heart event and collect all their keepsakes before committing, then propose to whoever wins you over. No scenes are missed by shopping around first.
Customizing your wedding
The ceremony is not a fixed cutscene. In the days before the wedding, your partner talks the arrangements over with you, so you get a say in the small details. You can pick the flowers on display, which cake gets served, and the food set out for guests at the reception.
How to have children after the wedding
Starting a family is optional and only becomes available once you are married. Some time after the wedding, a short cutscene leaves you holding a Mystical Feather. Whenever you feel ready, you can use the feather to begin a family planning conversation and welcome a child into your home. There is no timer and no pressure, so it comes down entirely to how you want your farm life to go. You can read more about the game on the official Fields of Mistria site.
Dating multiple villagers and ending a relationship
You can see several villagers at the same time while you make up your mind, with no early penalty for keeping your options open. Once you settle down, though, you can only be married to one person at a time. If you later decide to step back from a relationship, the break-up letters and the follow-up lines that come with them can be switched off in the options, so you can skip that part if you prefer.
The whole loop, from a first gift to a family of your own, now sits inside the 1.0 release, so pick a favorite and start closing the gap to 10 hearts.
