Finishing Fortnite’s Frigid Fortress “Hit Opponents” Quest

The Fortnite objective Hit opponents at Frigid Fortress to distract The Ice King is a location-based hit counter. It advances when your attacks connect with an opponent while you’re at Frigid Fortress, and it completes at 10 total hits.

Quick answer: While you’re at Frigid Fortress, land 10 successful hits on any opponents (players, or The Ice King if he’s there); eliminations aren’t required.

Trigger conditions (what must happen for progress to count)

Progress is awarded when both conditions are true at the moment a hit registers: you are at Frigid Fortress, and your attack connects with an opponent. The counter increases by 1 per registered hit until it reaches 10.

The objective does not require you to win the fight, finish an elimination, or deal a specific amount of damage. It only requires hits to connect.

What counts as a “hit” for the 10-hit requirement

A “hit” is a single instance of your attack connecting with an opponent. If a weapon fires multiple shots and several shots connect, each connected shot can add to the total.

You can use different weapons across the same match (and across multiple matches) and still make progress, as long as the hits register while you’re at Frigid Fortress.

What counts as an “opponent” at Frigid Fortress

Hits on enemy players count as long as the hit registers while you are at Frigid Fortress. If The Ice King is present at Frigid Fortress in your match, hits on him also count toward the same total.

The Ice King is not guaranteed to be at Frigid Fortress every match, so the most consistent way to advance the objective is simply to land hits on opposing players in that area.

Do you need The Ice King to spawn at Frigid Fortress?

No. The objective is written around distracting The Ice King, but completion is tied to hit registration at Frigid Fortress rather than requiring a boss encounter. The Ice King can appear at different locations, and the objective can still be completed by hitting other opponents at Frigid Fortress.

How progress is tracked and how you know it worked

As you land hits that meet the conditions, the quest tracker increments toward 10. You’ll know it worked when the objective’s counter updates (for example, moving from 3 to 4) and then shows completion once it reaches 10/10.

Progress can be earned over multiple matches; you do not need to finish all 10 hits in a single game.

Action at Frigid Fortress Counts toward 10 hits?
Hit an enemy player (any amount of damage) Yes
Hit The Ice King (if he is at Frigid Fortress) Yes
Eliminate an opponent Not required
Deal a specific damage amount Not required
Finish all 10 hits in one match Not required

Once the tracker reaches 10 hits, the objective is complete, and you can leave Frigid Fortress without needing any additional interaction with The Ice King.
