Fisch: How to Get the Volcanic Gauntlets and All 5 Mariana’s Awakening Gauntlets

The Volcanic Gauntlets are the first reward in the Mariana’s Awakening questline in Fisch, handed out by the NPC Ignis at the Volcanic Vents. They are a Mythical gloves accessory, and the same descent that earns them eventually leads to all five layer gauntlets and the Exotic Mariana’s Gauntlets. Every stage locks you into a specific rod, bait, season, time, and weather, so lining those up before you cast is the fastest route.

Quick answer: Talk to Ignis at Volcanic Vents, complete the Cinder and Ash quest using the Volcanic Rod, then return to him to claim the Volcanic Gauntlets.

Volcanic Gauntlets stats and effect

The Volcanic Gauntlets are a Gloves-type accessory with a Mythical rating, and they cannot be bought. Hold the item and click to equip it; it appears on your character’s hand and periodically slashes the hooked fish to grant bonus progress.

• Every 5 seconds, a 100% chance to slash the fish for 3% progress.
• Each slash grants +15% Progress Speed that fades over 5 seconds.

Get the Volcanic Gauntlets from Ignis (Cinder and Ash quest)

Ignis stands across from the Volcanic Rod at Volcanic Vents, near the lava pool, at GPS coordinates (-3343, -2028, 4076). His quest, Cinder and Ash, asks for two catches that must both be made with the Volcanic Rod equipped. Progress will not register with any other rod.

The other four layer gauntlets

To begin Mariana’s Awakening, talk to Velor at Roslit Bay. He sends you through Mariana’s Veil’s layers to earn one gauntlet from each of five NPCs. Each NPC is beside the rod needed for that NPC’s quest, making a descent from Volcanic Vents to the Veil of the Forsaken the fastest route. After both objectives are complete, return to the NPC and speak with them to finish the quest.

Glacius — Challenger’s Gauntlet

Glacius waits at Challenger’s Deep, across from the Challenger’s Deep Rod, at GPS (738, -3355, -1529). With the Challenger’s Rod equipped, catch 3 Chilled Hoarfrost Halibut and land 1 Perfect Catch on a Chilled Glacial Gulper, then speak with him again for the Challenger’s Gauntlet.

Tenebris — Abyssal Gauntlet

In the third layer, Abyssal Zenith, find Tenebris at GPS (-1043.4, -1043.7, 84.7), across from the Anglerfish Pond. Glide over to him, since swimming may trigger an anglerfish attack. With the Rod of the Zenith, reel in 2 Wrath Lumin-Lure Lanternfish and make 1 Wrath Void-Drifter Jelly a Perfect Catch. Return afterward to get the Abyssal Gauntlet.

Luminis — Calm Gauntlet

Find Luminis in the Calm Zone near the Ethereal Prism Rod at GPS (-4360, -11175, 3715); his challenges require that rod. While inside the zone, catch 4 Geode Grouper and get Perfect Catches on 2 Pearl-Plated Pleco. Speak with Luminis afterward to claim the Calm Gauntlet.

Resonus — Veiled Gauntlet

Resonus is in the final layer, the Veil of the Forsaken. His challenges call for the Leviathan’s Fang Rod, which becomes purchasable for 350,000 C$ after you defeat Scylla. Make Perfect Catches on 5 Gargoyle Goby and 3 Wraith-Whisper Ray, then return for the Veiled Gauntlet. Because both objectives demand Perfect Catches, a Glitched Potion alongside Mutated Sharky is especially useful here.

Fish, bait, and conditions for every gauntlet quest

Every fish in the questline spawns only under a fixed combination of bait, season, time, and weather. Match all four before casting, or the target simply will not appear.

Combine the five gauntlets into Mariana’s Gauntlets

With all five layer gauntlets collected, the questline opens the Scylla ritual and, finally, the Obsidian Trench, where the combined Mariana’s Gauntlets are earned.

You know each stage worked when the gauntlet or item lands in your accessory inventory right after you talk to the NPC or clear the trench. If a Perfect Catch counter fails to move, the catch did not register as perfect and must be repeated.

Mariana’s Gauntlets stats and effect

Mariana’s Gauntlets have an Exotic rating and cannot be obtained by purchase; earning them requires completing the Mariana’s Awakening questline. Hold and click the item to equip it, combining weaker versions of all five layer gauntlets in one glove.

• Each fish movement has a 7.5% chance to freeze the fish for 1 second. This effect cannot trigger again for 3 seconds.
• On Hunt Fish, 2.5–5% of Progress Speed becomes Forced Progress Speed.
• Every 5 seconds, a 100% chance to slash for 1.5% progress, with each slash adding +7.5% Progress Speed that fades over 5 seconds.
• The hooked fish’s mutation appears immediately when the catch starts.
• +5% Universal Mutation Chance and +1.5% Shiny / Sparkling Chance.
• +12.5% Luck.

The Volcanic Gauntlets are a potent slashing glove by themselves, and they also begin a longer progression. Start with Ignis, continue down through Glacius, Tenebris, Luminis, and Resonus, and then complete the Scylla ritual. Reaching the end of the route in the Obsidian Trench earns one glove that combines the strengths gained across the descent through Mariana’s Veil.
