The Calm Gauntlets are a Mythical pair of gloves in Fisch that boost your rare-catch odds while equipped. You earn them by finishing the “Shifting Colors” quest handed out by Luminis inside the Calm Zone layer of Mariana’s Veil. The whole quest hinges on one rod and two specific fish, so the setup matters more than the grind.
Quick answer: Travel to the Calm Zone, equip the Ethereal Prism Rod, catch 4 Prismized Geode Grouper and Perfect Catch 2 Prismized Pearl-Plated Pleco, then return to Luminis to receive the Calm Gauntlets and 50,000 XP.
Calm Gauntlets stats and rarity
The Calm Gauntlets sit in the Gloves accessory category and cannot be purchased. Completing Luminis’s quest is the only way to obtain them. When equipped, they give a flat boost to your chance of hooking Shiny and Sparkling variants along with a Luck increase, which makes them a strong passive pick for players chasing rare fish.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|

| Source | Luminis (Shifting Colors quest) |

The Luck bonus was raised to +25% in a later update, so older tooltips showing +20% reflect the earlier version of the item.

Two things gate this quest. First, the catches only count when you are holding the Ethereal Prism Rod, which is found in the same Calm Zone at GPS -4360, -11175, 3715. Second, the target fish must spawn with the Prismized mutation, so weather, season, time of day, and bait all need to line up.
- Access to Mariana’s Veil and its Calm Zone layer.
- The Ethereal Prism Rod equipped (no other rod counts).
- Crustacean Mix and Seaweed bait for the two fish.
- Optionally, take a Mutated Sharky companion and use a Glitched Potion to raise mutation rates.
How to complete the Shifting Colors quest

-4225, -11183, 3696. Speak with the NPC to accept the Shifting Colors quest and reveal both objectives.

Equip a Mutated Sharky companion and drink a Glitched Potion before fishing. Both push up the odds of the Prismized mutation appearing, which is the part of the quest that usually takes the longest.
Fish conditions for each catch
| Fish | Bait | Season | Weather / Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geode Grouper | Crustacean Mix | Spring, Summer | Clear, Day |
| Pearl-Plated Pleco | Seaweed | Spring | Clear, Day |
Both fish are Common rarity and spawn in the Calm Zone, so the challenge is not finding them but rolling the Prismized variant. Matching every listed condition at once gives you the cleanest window to farm the mutation efficiently.
How to confirm you unlocked them
After you hand in Shifting Colors, the quest clears from Luminis and the Calm Gauntlets appear in your inventory under the Gloves accessory category. Hovering over the item shows a tooltip reading +3% Shiny & Sparkling Chance and +25% Luck. Hold and click the gauntlets to equip them, and they will show on your character’s hands with the bonuses active.

The Calm Gauntlets are one of five layer gauntlets tied to Mariana’s Awakening, and collecting them all feeds into the larger goal of opening the Obsidian Trench. On their own, though, these gloves are worth equipping the moment you finish the quest if you spend your time hunting Shiny and Sparkling fish.
