The Glass Diamond is a Mythical fish in Fisch that spawns in the frozen sections of the Northern Summit region. Despite its rarity, it is one of the simplest Mythical catches in the game because it moves slowly and steadily across the reeling bar. Its main purpose is unlocking the Crystalized Rod, which requires two players to cooperate.

Quick answer: Fish the cave pool in the Overgrowth Caves (or the lower parts of Frigid Cavern) with any high-luck rod. No bait, weather, season, or time condition is needed, so keep casting until the Mythical exclamation appears.

Where the Glass Diamond spawns

The Glass Diamond is part of the Overgrowth Caves bestiary, but it can appear in more than one spot. The best target is the elevated water pool inside the Overgrowth Caves, a short walk from Camp 2. It can also be hooked in the lower areas of the Frigid Cavern and in the ocean surrounding the Northern Summit.

Because its chance rises with luck, anything that raises your luck stat makes it appear more often. The catch itself is easy once it bites, so you do not need a highly resilient rod.

How to catch the Glass Diamond

Fast travel to the Northern Summit using the Traveler’s Whistle. From there you can move up toward the Overgrowth Caves, or teleport directly to Overgrowth Caves or Frigid Cavern if you have those points unlocked.
Make your way to the cave pool. From the Northern Summit landing area, climb the ladders and cross the gaps to reach the interior pool of water. This is the fishing spot for the Glass Diamond.
Equip a rod with good luck. A high-luck rod boosts your odds of hooking the Glass Diamond, and since the fish is easy to reel, resilience is not a concern. No special bait is required.
Cast and keep fishing. Use an Aurora Totem to trigger Aurora Borealis if you have one, since it sharply multiplies luck and helps the Glass Diamond appear faster. When it bites, the Mythical exclamation and bell sound play above your head.
Reel it in. The Glass Diamond drifts slowly on the bar, so follow the blue line and complete the minigame. You will know it worked when the catch banner reads that you caught a Glass Diamond, often with the quip “Two more for a pickaxe!”

Using Glass Diamonds to unlock the Crystalized Rod

The Crystalized Rod sits encased in ice up on the mountainside at the Frigid Cavern. Freeing it takes two Glass Diamonds held by two different players, so you cannot do it alone.

Catch one Glass Diamond and bring a friend or willing player who also has one. Each of you needs a Glass Diamond equipped and held in hand.
Travel to the Crystalized Rod location at the Frigid Cavern. Stand on the two pressure plates on either side of the rod while holding your Glass Diamonds.
With both players in position, the rod is freed from the ice. Both of you can then purchase the Crystalized Rod.

If the Glass Diamond will not appear

Two things usually explain a dry streak. First, low luck slows the spawn rate, since the Glass Diamond is luck-favoring. Adding luck through your rod, totems, or Aurora Borealis raises the chance. Second, fishing outside its zones will not work. Stick to the Overgrowth Caves pool or the lower Frigid Cavern rather than the open Northern Summit shallows.

Note: The catch is not gated by weather, time, or season, so patience combined with a luck boost is all it takes. If you are farming for the Crystalized Rod, grab an extra Glass Diamond or two so both players are ready when you reach the plates.
