Fisch Rod Buffs: Dead Man’s Rod Rework and Every Price Change

A breakdown of the balance pass that reworked the Dead Man’s Rod, slashed rod prices, and added the Sei Whale Migration Hunt.

Fisch just pushed one of its widest balance passes yet, touching almost every fishing rod in the game. Some rods got flat stat increases, plenty got large price cuts, a handful got more expensive, and one — the Dead Man’s Rod — was rebuilt from the ground up with five mutation passives stacked onto it.

Quick answer: Open your Equipment Bag and inspect any rod you own — the new numbers are already live. The single biggest change is the Dead Man’s Rod, now sitting at 100% lure speed, 20 resilience, 0.1 control, +150 scavenging, and five mutational passives.

Dead Man’s Rod rework: stats and mutation passives

The Dead Man’s Rod is the centerpiece of the update. Its lure speed moved from 95% to 100%, resilience went from 0 to 20, control went from 0 to 0.1, and it picked up a flat +150 scavenging on top of that. None of those numbers on their own would be remarkable; together they turn a novelty rod into something you can fish with all session.

The passives are where it gets unusual. The rod can now roll five separate mutations on your catches: Tentacle Surge, Wrath, Greedy, Atlantean, and Sunken. That means a single cast can come back with a mutation that would normally require a specific rod built around it, which is how the rod pulled a Brine Sovereign in testing.

Every Fisch rod price change

The price adjustments are the part most players will feel immediately. Several late-game rods that used to sit behind millions of C$ are now within reach far earlier, and the Tempest Rod took the steepest cut of the bunch at 80% off its old tag. A few rods went the other way.

Note: the Rod of the Forgotten Fang previously had no cash cost attached to it and now carries a 500,000 price tag, so it is a genuine increase rather than a rebalance of an existing number.

Stat changes across the rest of the roster

Outside of the price shuffle, the pass hands out stat and passive tweaks broadly rather than concentrating them on a few rods. The Aether’s multiplier climbed from 12x to 15x, and the Precision Rod picked up a large lure speed jump from 20% to 65% — though it now requires level 25 instead of level 5, so newer accounts will wait longer for it.

The Noiseform received balancing adjustments alongside quality-of-life fixes, and Poseidon’s Lance was buffed. Beyond those, the changelog runs through a long list of rods with stat revisions:

  • Early and mid-game: Steady, Precision, Ethereal Prism, Firefly, Wildflower, Scurvy, Verdant Shear, Boreal, Riptide, Cryolash, Nocturnal, Free Spirit, Stone, Kings
  • Late-game and craftables: Great Rod of Oscar, Great Dreamer, Igneous Rupturer, Elder Mossripper, Terrotrapper, Verdant Oath, Hades’ Soul-Scythe, Abyssal Specter, Poseidon, Zeus, Volcanic, Challenger’s
  • Endgame and specialty: Tempest, Rod of the Zenith, Leviathan’s Fang, Merlin’s Staff, Heaven’s, Azure of Lagoon, Blazebringer, Carrot, Gardenkeeper, Celestial, Seasons, Toxic Spire, Vineweaver, Treasure, Rod of the Forgotten Fang, Evil Pitchfork, Zeus’s Thundermaul

Celestial Rod Mastery and leveling adjustments

The Celestial Rod now has its own mastery track, joining the other rods that reward sustained use with unlockable progress. The same patch also revises leveling XP mechanics as part of a broader balancing pass, so the rate at which you climb levels will not match what you were used to before the update.

Sei Whale Migration Hunt and the Crimson Tides surfboard

Sei Whales now migrate through the world, and they spawn specifically during Windy Nights. If you want to take part in the hunt, that weather and time combination is the trigger condition — fishing at other times will not produce them.

The Sunshell Merchant also stocks a new item, the Crimson Tides surfboard, for players who have shells to spend.

Bug fixes and quality-of-life changes

Companion skins are now tradeable, which is the change most likely to move the player economy. Lullaby buffs persist through rejoining a server, capped at eight hours, so you no longer lose them by disconnecting. Rotblooms and Witherblooms also stop despawning when no players are nearby, and shutting down for an update returns you to your original location instead of dropping you at spawn.

How to confirm the buffs are live on your account

Rejoin a server so your client picks up the current version. Rods already in your inventory update automatically; there is nothing to claim or re-purchase.
Open the Equipment Bag and inspect a rod you know was changed. The Dead Man’s Rod is the clearest test — its lure speed should read 100% and its resilience should read 20.
Check a merchant for one of the reduced-price rods. If the Tempest Rod is listed at 100,000 rather than 500,000, you are on the updated version.

If the old numbers are still showing, you are on an outdated server instance rather than missing an unlock. Leaving and rejoining resolves it.

Taken together, the pass mostly pushes in one direction: rods that were previously locked behind long grinds are cheaper, and rods that were technically owned but rarely equipped now have a reason to come out of the bag. The Dead Man’s Rod is the standout, but the price cuts on Tempest, Abyssal Specter, and Great Dreamer are what will change most players’ progression order in practice.
