Fisch Scavenger Rod: How to Unlock It and Full Stats

Finish Dr. Crookspine's Errands at the Oil Rig laboratory to claim the Regionless rod with a triple Rare Finds bonus.

Finish Dr. Crookspine’s Errands at the Oil Rig laboratory to claim the Regionless rod with a triple Rare Finds bonus.

The Scavenger Rod arrived in Fisch with the Astral Observatory update on August 22, 2026, and it stands out for two reasons: a 40% chance to apply the Scavenged mutation and a flat 3x boost to Rare Finds. It has no shop price. The only way to own it is to track down Dr. Crookspine and clear the quest he hands you.

Quick answer: Travel to The Laboratory inside the Oil Rig, talk to Dr. Crookspine at coordinates -1915, 225, -530, and complete all three objectives of Dr. Crookspine’s Errands. The rod unlocks the moment the final objective is checked off.

What the Scavenger Rod does

The Scavenger Rod is a Regionless fishing rod, which means it isn’t tied to any single area’s journal. Its look is dark and futuristic, with glowing cyan rings, a cyan-lit rectangular display, and a brown-and-black textured handle. The draw is the passive kit rather than raw stat weight.

Its ability leans into salvage. Caught fish have a 40% chance to gain the Scavenged mutation, and the rod triples the odds of pulling Rare Finds, so it is built for players hunting valuable and unusual catches rather than pure weight records.

Complete Dr. Crookspine’s Errands

The quest has three collection objectives, and each one calls for a specific rod, bait, and location. Line up the right gear before you start so you aren’t switching setups mid-run.

Collect two Silver Rusty Bolts. Equip the Titanium Rod with Magnet bait and fish at the Mineshaft until you pull two Rusty Bolts for Dr. Crookspine.
Catch and return five Scrap Metal. Scrap Metal drops when you fish with garbage bait, and it can appear anywhere on the map, so use whichever spot is closest.
Obtain one Lunar String. Switch to the Moonlight Rod with Garbage Bait and fish at the Desolate Deep to reel in this item.

Confirming the unlock

Once all three objectives read as complete and you turn the items in, Dr. Crookspine grants the Scavenger Rod, and it lands in your Equipment Bag ready to equip. If it hasn’t appeared, one of the objectives is still open. Check that you are using the exact rod and bait each step names, since Scrap Metal only bites on garbage bait and the Lunar String only shows up in the Desolate Deep with the Moonlight Rod and Garbage Bait combination.
