Forgotten Relics is the third main quest chain in Windrose, set across the Ancient Swamps biome of The Archipelago. It follows John Doe's lead on a local priestess who hid the second Charon's Obol, pushing you through ruined islands, a tainted forest, and a boss arena. The chain currently ends after the priestess fight with a "To be continued..." marker while the finale waits on a future early access update.

Before you start
Forgotten Relics unlocks after John Doe becomes a camp guest, which happens once you rescue him during the Israel Hands encounter. He joins Doctor Galen Skelton at your home base, and speaking to him opens the next conversation about Charon's Obols and the mark on your character.
The Ancient Swamps are hostile terrain. Plague Hunters, Plague Crocodiles, and Plague Thralls patrol the ruins, and parts of the map are covered by a tainted forest that fills a Tainted meter over your guard break icon. When that meter fills, you die instantly, so bring strong weapons and healing before committing to long fights inside tainted zones.

Stepwise walkthrough
Step 1: Return to camp and speak with John Doe. He explains that a local priestess was keeping the second Obol and marks her chambers on your map, starting the search in the Ancient Swamps.

Step 2: Travel to the objective marker in the swamps and clear the ancient ruin guarded by Plague Hunters, Plague Crocodiles, and Plague Thralls. Climb to the top of the ruin and examine the Well-Preserved Clay Tablet to pick it up.
Step 3: Bring the tablet back to John. He can only pull partial information from it and asks you to find more, naming them Senkamati clay tablets.
Step 4: Head to the next swamp island and collect four more Well-Preserved Clay Tablets from four separate ancient ruins. Two of them sit inside the tainted forest, so rush in, grab the tablets, and leave before the Tainted meter fills.

Step 5: Hand the four tablets to John. After a short wait, he finishes deciphering them and produces John's Dictionary, a translation aid you can use on other inscriptions in the region.
Step 6: Talk to John again about the results. He confirms that most tablets only held recipes, but one points to the priestess and directs you to examine more murals and inscriptions in the swamps.
Step 7: Using the dictionary, inspect the three murals marked on your map (First Mural, Second Mural, Third Mural). Each mural gives you another piece of the Senkamati text and narrows down the ritual site location.

Step 8: Travel to the ritual site on a nearby island, also inside a tainted forest, and clear the plague-infested enemies around the altar. Examine the altar to record the Scratches On The Altar and receive the Enchanted Ritual Dagger as a quest reward.
Step 9: Go to the priestess's resting place, a large circular arena. Interact with the Cursed Plant and use the Enchanted Ritual Dagger on it to trigger the High Priestess encounter.
High Priestess boss fight
The High Priestess is the third main boss in Windrose and the regional threat for the Ancient Swamps. She fights as a large frog-like creature with wide AoE hand slams and a long-range tongue attack. The tempo is slow, which gives you time to read her wind-ups and dodge, so patience usually beats aggression here.
Her back carries destructible spheres. Breaking them stuns her for a short window, which is the cleanest opportunity to land heavy hits without trading damage. Keep the arena's tainted atmosphere in mind and avoid standing still during her slams.
Defeating her awards the second Charon's Obol. The quest does not close out at that point; a "To be continued..." objective appears in its place, since the true ending of Forgotten Relics is held for a later update while Windrose remains in early access.

Quest rewards
| Item | Quantity | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Charon's Obol | 1 | Main relic, second of the set |
| Well-Preserved Clay Tablet | 2 | Handed to John for translation |
| John's Dictionary | 2 | Used to read murals and inscriptions |
| Enchanted Ritual Dagger | 1 | Activates the Cursed Plant at the boss arena |
| Scratches On The Altar | 1 | Lore and translation reference |
Once you pick up the second Charon's Obol, Forgotten Relics stays open on your tracker as a placeholder. The remaining chapter will arrive in a later Windrose update, so the current ceiling for this quest chain is the High Priestess kill and the relic pickup.
