Fortnite Blinky Sprite: How to Get It and What It Does

Defeat one of the four Pac-Man Ghosts for a guaranteed drop, then extract it before the match ends.

The Blinky Sprite arrived with the v42.20 update as part of the Pac-Man crossover, turning the red arcade ghost into a Legendary Sprite you can carry into a match. Instead of hunting Pac-Man, Blinky now helps you slip away from a fight. Here is exactly how to get it, where it drops, and what its cloak actually does.

Quick answer: Defeat any one of the four Pac-Man Ghosts (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, or Clyde) on the island for a guaranteed Blinky Sprite drop, then extract it before the match ends.

Defeat a Pac-Man Ghost for a guaranteed drop

The only reliable way to get the Blinky Sprite is to eliminate one of the Pac-Man Ghosts that roam the island. Each Ghost tends to stick to a specific spot but can wander, and defeating any of them guarantees a Blinky Sprite, with a small chance at one of the variants.

Land at or travel to one of the four Ghost spawn points listed below. Keep your distance as you approach, since the Ghosts are easy to defeat but you want a clear line of fire.
Wait for the Ghost to become visible. They often patrol while invisible, so hold position until one appears rather than firing at empty space.
Shoot the Ghost until it is defeated. It will drop the Blinky Sprite on the ground for you to pick up.
Extract the Sprite before the match ends. If you leave without extracting, it does not count toward your collection.

Mega Maze also sits next to one of the Temple Vaults, so you can farm a Ghost and check a Relic Chest in the same drop.

Other ways to find Blinky

Beyond the Ghosts, Blinky can turn up through the normal Sprite routes, though none of these are guaranteed. Blinky’s listed spawn condition is the in-game night cycle, and its spawn rate is boosted after dark, so night is the best window to search the wider island.

  • Search chests around any POI, though regular chests mostly hold weapons rather than Sprites.
  • Use Cheat Code consoles. Rare (blue) and Epic (purple) codes can drop Sprites of any rarity, and Epic codes have raised odds for variants.
  • Prioritize Legendary (orange) Cheat Codes, which are guaranteed to drop a variant Sprite.

Your chance of getting a Sprite variant absent from your collection rises as more time passes between discoveries. The route you choose does not change the extraction requirement. Unless you extract the Sprite, it will not be added to your collection.

What the Blinky Sprite does

Taking a hit automatically activates Blinky Sprite’s camouflage, briefly reducing your visibility. It requires no button press, so the protection arrives as soon as combat begins to go badly. Each upgrade extends its duration, making it useful for hit-and-run tactics.

Level 44.5 seconds
Level 55 seconds

The cloak makes you harder to spot, not fully invisible to a player who is already tracking you. At low levels the window is short, so treat a fresh Blinky as a small edge rather than a guaranteed escape.

All Blinky Sprite variants

There are five forms of Blinky in total, including the base version. Four went live on day one, and each shares the same damage-triggered cloak while adding its own bonus.

Bounty Hunter Sprite variants, Blinky included, will arrive on Thursday, September 24. Eliminating opponents can yield these forms, and eliminations are the only way to level them up, unlike the standard variants.

How rare is Blinky?

Blinky carries Legendary rarity, but it is not hard to obtain because the Ghost method guarantees a drop. Exact Season 4 drop rates have not been published, so there is no confirmed percentage for the Sprite or its variants. If the Ghosts are not cooperating, the base Blinky is common enough that repeated attempts, plus Legendary Cheat Codes for variants, will get you there.
