The Lootin’ Llama Sprite is a Legendary companion added to Fortnite in the v41.30 update, and it slots into the Chapter 7 Season 3 collection alongside a batch of new critters. It has no fixed spawn, so tracking it down comes down to searching the right containers and then getting it off the island safely.
Quick answer: Open Sprite Chests, Rare Chests, and regular Chests until the Lootin’ Llama Sprite drops, pick it up, then complete an extraction at an Extraction Site or with a Portable Extractor to add it to your collection permanently.

Where the Lootin’ Llama Sprite drops
The Lootin’ Llama can drop from any container that rewards a Sprite, which means there is no single location to camp. The reliable approach is to hit as many Sprite-rewarding sources as possible in a match and let the odds work in your favor. Sprite Chests give you the best chance.
- Sprite Chests scattered across the island and inside underground vaults
- Regular Chests and Rare Chests, since it is a Legendary Sprite
- Cluster Found Quests
- Lucky Locator Gizmo, which grants a Sprite you do not already own
- Sprite Locator Gizmo to reveal nearby rare Sprites
- Other players, either by eliminating someone carrying it or trading with a friend
Golden Grove and Calamari Canyon are solid areas to focus your search. If your collection is close to complete, the Lucky Locator Gizmo is the most direct route because it only hands over a Sprite you are missing.
Tip: Equip a Holofoil Sprite before you go hunting. It raises your chance of pulling the Special Variants from Chests, which matters if you want every version rather than just the base one.
How rare is the Lootin’ Llama Sprite
It carries Legendary rarity, so it is uncommon, but it shows up more often than the toughest catches such as the Grim Sprite and the Zero Point Sprite. Many players manage to find one within a single match, which makes it one of the more approachable Legendary Sprites this season.
Lootin’ Llama Sprite variants
Beyond the standard version, the Lootin’ Llama comes in four Special Variants. Each has an increased Chest drop chance while you have a Holofoil Sprite equipped.
- Gold
- Galaxy
- Gummy
- Gem
What the Lootin’ Llama Sprite does
With the Lootin’ Llama equipped, opening ammo boxes gives you a chance to receive a weapon upgrade. That makes it a strong pick if you want to raise a weapon’s rarity without spending Sprite Dust. The chance scales as you level the Sprite up.
| Sprite level | Chance to grant a weapon upgrade |
|---|---|
| Level 1 | 5% |
| Level 2 | 10% |
| Level 3 | 15% |
| Level 4 | 17% |
| Level 5 | 20% |
Extract it to keep it
Finding the Sprite is only half the job. Carrying it during a match does not add it to your collection on its own. You have to complete an extraction before you are eliminated or the match ends.
If the Sprite is not in your collection after a match, the extraction did not complete before you went down. When that happens, the fix is simple. Find another Lootin’ Llama in a new match and extract it before taking any risky engagements.
