Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: How to Get the FNCS Fishstick Style

Owning the original Fishstick outfit is the only requirement to unlock the new FNCS style right now.

Owning the original Fishstick outfit is the only requirement to unlock the new FNCS style right now.

The Override update that kicked off Chapter 7 Season 4 quietly dropped a new FNCS look for Fishstick, and it landed in a lot of lockers without any announcement, quest, or purchase attached to it. There is no challenge to grind and no code to redeem. The unlock hinges on one thing only.

Quick answer: If you already own the original Fishstick Outfit, the FNCS Fishstick style was granted to your account for free as of Thursday, August 20. Open your Locker, select Fishstick, and choose Edit Style to confirm it is there.

The only requirement for the FNCS Fishstick style

FNCS Fishstick is a style, not a standalone outfit. That distinction matters because styles attach to the skin they belong to, so there is no way to equip this one without the base Fishstick Outfit sitting in your Locker first. Ownership is the entire gate.

Your situationWhat happens
You own the Fishstick OutfitThe FNCS style is granted free, no purchase or quest needed
You do not own FishstickYou must buy the outfit when it next appears in the Item Shop
You own a Fishstick variant skin only (Frozen, Atlantean, etc.)Those are separate outfits and do not grant the FNCS style

It is not entirely clear whether the style went live ahead of schedule. Either way, it has already been distributed, and nothing about the grant is tied to playtime, level, or competitive participation in FNCS itself.

How to check for and equip the style in your Locker

Launch Fortnite on the current Chapter 7 Season 4 build and head to the Locker tab from the main lobby. The style will not appear on older client versions.
Open your outfit slot and select Fishstick from the outfit list. It is filed as a Rare outfit and sits in the Fish Food set alongside items like the Saltwater Satchel and the Coral Cruiser glider.
Choose Edit Style. You should see FNCS listed as a selectable option next to the older Default, Pirate, VR, and World Cup variants. Selecting it and backing out applies the look immediately, which is your confirmation that the grant landed.

If the FNCS style is missing from your Locker

Free style grants are sometimes applied on the back end rather than pushed instantly with the patch, so an empty style slot right after logging in does not mean you were skipped. Three things reliably shake it loose.

  • Play a full match of Fortnite, then return to the lobby and recheck the Locker.
  • Fully close and restart the game so your client pulls a fresh copy of your account items.
  • Give it time. The reward can arrive on its own without any action from you.

Note: if you genuinely do not own the base Fishstick Outfit, none of the above will produce the style. Owning a themed Fishstick spin-off skin is not the same as owning Fishstick.

Buying Fishstick if you do not own the outfit

Fishstick has never been a Battle Pass or event exclusive. It rotates through the shop regularly and has done so well over a hundred times since its December 2018 debut, so picking it up is a matter of waiting for the next rotation rather than hunting something rare.

Purchase optionPriceWhat you get
Fishstick Outfit1,200 V-BucksThe outfit and all of its styles, including FNCS
Fishstick Bundle2,200 V-BucksThe outfit and styles plus back bling, glider, pickaxe, emote, jam track, and three wraps

The full bundle adds the Saltwater Satchel back bling, Coral Cruiser glider, Bootstraps pickaxe, Fishy Flourish emote, the Meet Me in the Sticks jam track, and the Slippery, Fish Face, and Fishy wraps. If you already own pieces of that set, the standalone outfit is the cheaper route to the style.

When Fishstick returns to the Item Shop

No return date has been confirmed. The outfit’s most recent shop appearance ran in mid-July 2026, and its historical gap between listings has typically been a few weeks rather than months. Since the FNCS style has already been distributed to existing owners, a shop appearance for the outfit is the logical next step for everyone else.

When Fishstick does return, the FNCS style should come bundled with it automatically, in the same way the older Pirate, VR, and World Cup variants do. Styles granted this way have historically stayed permanently in the Locker once unlocked, though the World Cup variant was a rare exception with a limited claim window back in 2019. For now, the practical takeaway is simple: check your Locker if you own Fishstick, and keep 1,200 V-Bucks aside if you do not.
