Fortnite Droid Tycoon: How to Obtain Nova Crystals From Super Crates

Rainbow Crates drop Nova Crystals only after Super Crates is maxed and every secret hat is collected.

Super Crates do not pour Nova Crystals into your pocket the moment you buy the perk. The upgrade only changes which crates spawn around Tatooine. Crystals enter that loot table after two hard conditions are met, and both of them are easy to miss.

Quick answer: Max Super Crates to rank 3 so Rainbow Crates can spawn, collect every secret cosmetic hat those crates can award, then keep opening Rainbow Crates. Nova Crystals can appear in that loot only after the hat set is finished.

Super Crates Max Rank and Rainbow Crates

Super Crates is a Nova Shop perk. Its text is blunt. Find better crates around Tatooine. The upgrade has three ranks, and the panel reads 3/3 when it is finished. That Max Rank state is the first lock on crystal drops.

Only rank 3 adds Rainbow Crates to the world. Those are the containers with a chance to hold Nova Crystals. Gold and Diamond crates still pay credits and upgrade chips. They are not the crystal source. If Rainbow Crates never appear on the sand, the perk is not at Max Rank yet.

Secret hats requirement for Nova Crystals

Rainbow Crates still withhold Nova Crystals until every secret cosmetic hat in the crate pool is collected. The set includes Diamond, Gold, Cosmetic, and Rainbow hats. Leave one missing and the crystal roll stays off, no matter how many Rainbow Crates you open.

The hat gate has no separate fanfare. You know it has opened when a Rainbow Crate finally pays Nova Crystals. Until that first crystal shows up, treat every Rainbow open as a collection pull, not a currency farm.

Tatooine Super Crates route versus Stormtrooper events

Stormtrooper combat events look like a crate farm. They are a poor one. Those fights chew through time and pay common crates. Open-world running on Tatooine is the faster path to Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow containers.

The clean loop is a clockwise lap around Tatooine. Open every crate on the path, repair moisture evaporators, and hack ships as you pass them. That circuit is also a steady upgrade-chip route, at roughly 50,000 chips an hour.

World activities sit around the Sandcrawler as well. Resource nodes share that yard, so a crate lap that cuts through the outpost still has work waiting on the ground.

Upgrade items announce themselves with +1 pickup flashes as you sweep buildings and doors. Grab them on the same pass. Do not break the lap to hunt combat crates.

A glowing container on the sand is the crate you want. Walk up, open it, and keep moving. Combat events will not replace that spawn table. They stay on common crates.

Closing the circuit means heading back toward the Sandcrawler and starting the next clockwise pass. Rainbow Crates only exist on this overworld table after Super Crates is maxed.

BB-8, DJ R-3X, and Super Crates hourly yield

Two companions change the math on the same lap. BB-8 doubles upgrade chips. DJ R-3X doubles world quest rewards and world activity rewards. Equip both before you start a crate hour. They stack on the same opens.

One hour of Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow crate opens with that pair equipped returns the snapshot below. Six Nova Crystals is the crystal line. It only applies after the hat set is complete.

Super Crates upgrade cost and World Missions Revamp

Maxing Super Crates costs a heavy amount of Nova Crystals. Six crystals back per hour is a slow refund on that spend. Double Daily Quests turns the same currency into more crystals per day, which is why the crate perk is a weak first buy if your only goal is stockpiling crystals.

A Super Crate drop-rate cut was labeled unintended by mode developer BlazingFrenzy and marked for a fix. An official roadmap also lists a World Missions Revamp that would touch world activities and crates. No official date is currently confirmed.

If Rainbow Crates never spawn, Super Crates is not at 3/3. If they spawn and still pay no crystals, the secret hat set is incomplete. Stormtrooper events will not close that gap. They stay on common crates.
