The Lucky Locator is the Gizmo that fixes the most annoying part of the Sprite hunt in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3. Instead of cracking open random Sprite Chests and pulling duplicates you already own, it points you toward a buried chest that is guaranteed to hold a Sprite missing from your collection. The catch is that there is only one to earn right now, and it sits at the far end of the Sprites Mastery Rewards track.
Quick answer: Reach Level 50 on the Sprites Mastery Rewards track by permanently mastering 50 unique Sprites. Level 50 unlocks the single Lucky Locator currently in the game. A second one is planned when the track expands to Level 100.

What the Lucky Locator does
The Lucky Locator lives in your pickaxe slot at the start of a match, like the other Extraction Gizmos. When you activate it, your character scans the area and marks a buried Sprite Chest on your HUD. That chest is guaranteed to contain a Sprite you do not already own, so you will never dig one up only to find a duplicate.
It does not raise the rarity of what you find. A missing Air Sprite is just as likely to appear as something like a Zero Point Sprite, depending purely on which Sprites you are still short of. Because of that, the tool is most valuable once your collection is nearly complete and only a handful of Sprites remain uncollected.

Add to Google Preferences →How to unlock the Lucky Locator at Level 50
The Lucky Locator is not a loot-pool drop. You cannot find it in a chest, buy it with Sprite Dust, or pick it up on the map. The only route is the Sprites Mastery Rewards track, and it appears as the reward for hitting Level 50.

There are 109 Sprites in the game, so reaching 50 is a long-term goal rather than something you finish in an afternoon. Each Sprite counts once, and only when it has been mastered.

How to master Sprites faster
A Sprite is permanently mastered when you extract it at Max Level 5. You raise a Sprite’s level while it is equipped by eliminating players, opening containers, and playing through the match, then you have to survive the extraction to lock in that mastery.
Higher-level extractions also pay out more Sprite Dust, which feeds into the rest of the Gizmo economy. If you want to grind mastery quickly, focus on staying alive with a Sprite equipped, farming eliminations and chests, and then banking it at Max Level rather than losing it mid-match.

Can you get more than one Lucky Locator?
Right now, no. Only a single Lucky Locator appears in the Sprites Mastery Rewards track, so it is a one-and-done unlock at Level 50. Once you use it, there is no second copy waiting further along the current track.
That is set to change. Epic plans to extend the Sprites Mastery Rewards track up to Level 100, which will add a second Lucky Locator for players who master 100 Sprites. No official date for that expansion has been confirmed, so the best preparation is to keep pushing your mastery count up now so you are ready the moment the higher tiers go live.
| Milestone | Requirement | Status |
|---|---|---|
| First Lucky Locator | Master 50 Sprites (Level 50) | Available now |
| Second Lucky Locator | Master 100 Sprites (Level 100) | Planned, no confirmed date |
How to use it in a match

Note: Other players can steal the chest and the Sprite if you are not careful, so clear the area or bring squad cover before you start digging.
What to watch out for
The Lucky Locator is tied to your account, not a single match, so being eliminated does not delete an unused one from your inventory. However, if you die after activating it, you lose both the marked chest location and the use of the Gizmo for that match. Because you only have one to spend, save it for a match where you are confident you can reach the chest and get out alive.
You will know the unlock worked when the Level 50 reward flips from locked to owned in the Sprites Mastery Rewards track and the Lucky Locator becomes selectable from your Gizmo wheel at the start of a match. Until the track extends to Level 100, that single tool is the ceiling, so plan your one guaranteed pull around a Sprite you actually want.
