Every Gizmo you have banked in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, including Portable Extractors and Lucky Locators, disappears when the season closes. Season 4, called Override, begins on August 20, and the swap over brings a full reset of the Sprite economy rather than a carry over.
Quick answer: Yes. Portable Extractors, Lucky Locators, Sprite Locators, and Extraction Site Boosters all reset for Season 4. Use every Gizmo you have before downtime on Thursday, August 20 at 4 AM ET, because they will not transfer.

Which Gizmos reset for Chapter 7 Season 4
All four Extraction Gizmos from Season 3 are wiped when Override starts. None of them count as a permanent unlock, so anything left in your stash at downtime is gone. Here is the full list of Gizmos that reset.
- Portable Extractors
- Lucky Locators
- Sprite Locators
- Extraction Site Boosters
Portable Extractors are the safest way to bank a Sprite, since they create a personal extraction point wherever you stand instead of forcing a trip to a public Extraction Site. Burn through your remaining ones on any rare Sprites you still need before the deadline.
Lucky Locators point you to a buried Sprite Chest that is guaranteed to hold a Sprite you do not already own. You can also unlock one daily as a Daily Quest reward in the run up to Season 4, so keep claiming them and put them to use before the reset.
The exact reset deadline
The cutoff is downtime on Thursday, August 20 at 4 AM ET. Once servers go down for the Override update, your Gizmo count returns to zero and there is no way to recover unspent items. Treat the days before that as your window to empty the stash.
Everything else that resets alongside Gizmos
Gizmos are not the only thing wiped at the season change. Epic has described the wipe as seasonal housekeeping, and it covers your resources and progress across the Sprite system.
| What resets | What happens |
|---|---|
| All Gizmos | Portable Extractors, Lucky Locators, Sprite Locators, and Extraction Site Boosters clear to zero. |
| Sprite Dust | Your Dust balance is wiped, so spend it before downtime. |
| Sprite Mastery | Mastery progress resets for the new generation of Sprites. |
| Season 3 Sprites | All Season 3 Sprites are retired from Battle Royale and can no longer be found in the loot pool. |
Because Sprite Dust also vanishes, there is no reason to hold onto it. Spend it on daily XP or on daily Portable Extractor purchases before the deadline. One important exception: if you still have a Lucky Locator, secure your common Sprites first, then use the Locator last so its guaranteed drop lands on something you are actually missing.
Do your Season 3 Sprites carry over?
Your Sprite collection is the one part of Season 3 that survives the reset. Every Sprite you extracted lives on in the Sprite Garden, a space where you can view and interact with your collection without other players stealing them. Sprites you extracted at Level 5 also stay usable in the Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling and as Pilots in the Guardian outfit.
The catch is that retired Sprites cannot be found again in Season 4’s loot pool. If you skipped Batman Sprites, Gem Sprites, or any other Season 3 variant, they move out of reach until Epic decides to bring past generations back, and no date for a return has been confirmed.
Will Gizmos come back in Override?
Gizmos return in Season 4, but with a fresh, empty count for everyone. Portable Extractors are guaranteed to come back. Other Gizmos may or may not return, and Epic may introduce new ones, so the exact toolkit for Override is not locked in yet.
The practical takeaway is simple. Nothing consumable from Season 3 is worth hoarding. Spend your Gizmos and Sprite Dust, master and extract the Sprites you want to keep, and go into Override on August 20 ready to build your reserves again from scratch.
