Sora’s arrival on the Island has been confirmed since the middle of August, but Epic Games never attached a date to it. That changed in practical terms when the Kingdom Hearts car cosmetics sitting in Rocket League’s files were flipped to a “cross-game” state, the flag Epic uses when a set is ready to appear in both games at once.
Quick answer: No official release date has been announced. The Kingdom Hearts set is flagged as ready to ship, which points to the next Fortnite update rather than a later drop in the season, and possibly as early as September 3 if nothing slips.
What Epic, Disney, and Square Enix have confirmed
The crossover is not a rumor anymore. Epic Games, Disney, and Square Enix announced on August 16 that Kingdom Hearts would be part of Chapter 7 Season 4, the Gaming Legends season branded as Override. Sora appears in the season’s key art wearing his Kingdom Hearts II outfit, alongside the other franchises headlining the season.
Beyond the artwork, the only Kingdom Hearts content Epic has described is a Kingdom Key Mythic tied to Sora. Most of the other Override collaborations have already shown up in gameplay footage or in the Item Shop, while Sora has stayed limited to promotional material, which is part of why the collab looked like a late-season addition.
Note: Only the Battle Pass is included with the season. Everything else in Override is Item Shop content bought with V-Bucks, so a full Kingdom Hearts set will carry a separate cost.

The Gummi Ship is being handled as a shared asset. It functions as a car in Rocket League and as a vehicle in Fortnite’s Battle Royale modes, which means the two games have to release it together. Dataminer SamLeakss spotted that the previously leaked Rocket League cosmetics were recently marked cross-game, the state assets reach once both builds are prepared to serve them.
Assets sitting in that state normally go live in the following content update. That is the basis for the September 3 estimate, and it is an estimate rather than a schedule. Epic has pushed finished collaborations before, most visibly with the Adam Smasher cosmetics from the Cyberpunk 2077 set, so a flagged asset is a strong signal and not a guarantee.
Kingdom Hearts items found in the files
The most complete picture so far is the Rocket League side of the bundle, which was uncovered in full. Images of the Gummi Ship car decal surfaced early and use textures pulled from the games themselves, including Sora’s outfit.
| Item | Included |
|---|---|
| Gummi Ship vehicle | With three decals |
| Universal decal | One |
| Octane decal | One |
| Boost and trail | One each |
| Wheels | Three |
| Goal explosion | One |
| Avatar border and player banner | One each |
| Topper | One |
| Gummi Crates | Free |
On the Fortnite side, the Gummi Ship is expected as a drivable vehicle rather than a Rocket League exclusive. A Sora Outfit and the Kingdom Key Mythic are the two pieces tied directly to the character. Whether any other Kingdom Hearts characters ship alongside him, and whether the Sora Outfit includes alternate styles beyond the Kingdom Hearts II look, has not been detailed.
Where Kingdom Hearts sits in Override’s crossover rollout
Override launched on August 20 with a thin crossover lineup. Sonic was the only franchise available at the start, with everything else held back for the Item Shop on dates Epic did not share. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro landed during the season’s second week, which set the roughly biweekly cadence players have been reading into.
| Franchise | Status |
|---|---|
| Sonic the Hedgehog | Available since the season launched |
| Crash Bandicoot and Spyro | Released during the season’s second week |
| Kingdom Hearts (Sora) | Confirmed; assets flagged cross-game, no date announced |
| Persona 5 (Joker) | Confirmed; no date announced |
| Mega Man | Confirmed; the Mega Buster is already in the game |
| Pac-Man | Confirmed; no date announced |
| Tetris | Confirmed for the season |
The order matters because Persona and Mega Man were widely assumed to be next. Persona was among the earliest collaborations confirmed for the season, and the Mega Buster arriving ahead of any Mega Man cosmetics made that set look close to ready. The cross-game flag on the Kingdom Hearts assets reorders those expectations.
How to confirm the collab has gone live
If the shop rotates and no Kingdom Hearts section appears, the most likely explanation is a last-minute hold rather than a regional difference. Epic does not pre-announce Item Shop dates for these sets, so there is no schedule to check against.
Everything about the timing still rests on file states rather than an announcement, and Fortnite’s release plans move quickly enough that a set can be ready for weeks before it surfaces. What is settled is that the crossover exists, it is part of Override, and the pieces are built. The remaining question is which update Epic decides to attach them to.
