The top-earning Worker, Battle, and Astromech droids at every tier, plus the variant multipliers that decide your credits per second.

Income in Star Wars Droid Tycoon comes down to two numbers: which droid you own, and which variant of it you own. A Common droid parked in the wrong slot earns almost nothing, while a properly upgraded Legendary can pull thousands of credits per second on its own. The mode launched on May 1, 2026 inside Fortnite, built by FOAD with Epic Games and Lucasfilm, and the Droidex has since grown past 200 collectible droids.

Quick answer: Put every droid in a slot that matches its role for the +10% credit boost, then spend your upgrades on the highest-rate droid in each role — Opti-STRK (Battle), Mono-WLKR (Worker), and R7 (Astromech) at Legendary. Each variant step from Gold to Diamond to Rainbow doubles that droid’s credits per second, so a Rainbow copy earns eight times the base version.

How droid income is calculated: variants, roles, and the 10% bonus

Every droid falls into one of three roles — Worker, Battle, or Astromech — and every droid exists in seven variants. Ranked from lowest payout to highest, those are Default, Gold, Diamond, Rainbow, Beskar, Galactic, and Stellar. The variant is the multiplier; the droid itself is the base rate.

VariantIncome vs. Default
DefaultBase rate
Gold2x base
Diamond4x base
Rainbow8x base
Beskar, Galactic, StellarHigher still, in that order

Rarity still outranks the multiplier in most cases. The best Rainbow Common in the game is the Imperial Probe at 48 credits per second, which plenty of Default Rare droids already beat. Chasing Rainbow copies of Common droids is a dead end once your Rare and Epic lineup is stable.

The last free multiplier is placement. Putting a droid to work in the area matching its specialism adds a 10% credit boost, so a Battle droid sitting in a Worker slot is quietly losing you money. Your on-screen credits-per-second counter updates the moment you move a droid, which is the fastest way to confirm an upgrade or reassignment actually helped.

Best money making droids in each rarity tier

These are the top earners per role at each tier. Fill all three roles before you start hunting the next rarity up, since a balanced base with the specialist bonus applied beats one high-rarity droid sitting alone.

One exception is worth knowing at Epic. Proto-Roller posts the highest base rate of any Epic Battle droid at 972 credits per second, well ahead of B1 Heavy’s 630, so keep it if one spawns for you at the Sandcrawler.

Credits per second for the top Common to Legendary droids

Exact rates make the upgrade decision obvious. A single Rainbow Opti-STRK earns more than an entire base full of Rare droids, which is why Legendary upgrades are worth saving for even at their steep chip cost.

Fusion droids: Requirements, recipes, and whether they pay off

Fusion droids never appear on the conveyor belt or at the Sandcrawler. You have to build them, and the entry cost is real: Rebirth Level 3, plus 400,000 Credits to construct the Droid Fusion station at your base. There are 17 fusion droids in total, spanning Rare to Mythic.

Place three valid standard droids on the Fusion table. The recipe must match exactly, including the quantity of each ingredient.
Wait for the screen on the right to read “Fusion Ready” and show the Credit cost. If it does not appear, one of your three droids is not a valid ingredient for any recipe.
Interact with the console, pay the fee, and collect the new droid. The result takes the quality of your lowest ingredient, so two Rainbow droids plus one Diamond droid produces a Diamond fusion.

The strongest Legendary fusions are FUS-3 (Worker), ORB-XL (Battle), and QIK-BIT (Astromech). Above those sit the Mythic tier fusions worth building for a Stellar-variant base: RIV-3T (Worker), X-ONK (Battle), and AXL-POD (Astromech). Weigh these against your current lineup before committing, because the resource cost of a high-tier fusion is heavy relative to the credits it adds.

Tip: Start with a Rare recipe to learn the flow before you risk anything expensive. Groundmech and KX both appear in multiple high-rarity recipes, so avoid burning them on an early experiment.

Iconic droids and what their Nova Crystal boosts do

Iconic droids sit outside the normal rarity ladder and can only be bought with Nova Crystals. They do not simply add a high credits-per-second figure — they apply percentage boosts to your base income, which scales with everything else you have running.

Iconic droidRoleEffect
C-3POWorker+25% base income
R2-D2Astromech+25% base income, plus double mission crates
IG-11 / Mr. BonesBattle+15% base income

R2-D2 is the standout because the doubled mission crates feed back into everything else — more crates means more Upgrade Chips and more blueprints from the same missions you were already running.

Upgrade Chip costs and where to spend them

Upgrade Chips are spent at the Droid Upgrade Vendor in the shop behind the Cantina, and they are the bottleneck on almost every account. Side objectives around Tatooine — moisture evaporator repairs, stormtrooper takeovers, droid repair tasks — give the most consistent chip drops, and Astromech missions launched from the pads pay out better the longer they run.

Epic120180240
Legendary4001,2004,000

Do not spend chips on Common or Rare droids. Their upgraded versions turn up at the Jawa Sandcrawler often enough that waiting costs you nothing, and 75 chips on a Rainbow Rare is 75 chips you no longer have toward a Legendary. Save everything for Epic and above, where the upgraded spawns are far less frequent.

Note: Hold onto upgraded copies you no longer use rather than selling them. Later Rebirth requirements ask for specific variants of specific droids, and rebuilding a Gold or Rainbow you already had is the most expensive mistake in the mode.

The practical route to a high income rate is unglamorous: run Geonosis, Jakku, and Ryloth missions continuously for crates, keep every droid in its matching role slot, and funnel chips into one Legendary per role instead of spreading them thin. Once that core is running, Stellar variants and the Mythic fusions are what push your counter into the millions per second.
