Scanner costs, the full standard trait pool, and what each Iconic droid’s exclusive trait does, from tripled mission rewards to blueprint protection.

Droids in Star Wars Droid Tycoon already come with a built-in droid perk. Droid Traits sit on top of that as a second, rolled bonus. Most of them are small stat bumps. A handful are exclusive to named Iconic droids, and those change how the tycoon plays. BB-8 can feed you his companion bonus while he’s busy at a workstation. CB-23 can turn a 40 Nova Crystal mission crate into 120. IG-11 Marshal can make your dropped blueprints impossible for anyone else to grab.

Quick answer: To obtain traits, use the Scan Droid Traits consoles positioned by the Sandcrawler. Each discovery or reroll for an Iconic droid costs 200 Nova Crystals, and its Iconic trait remains after Super Rebirths.

Droid Trait scanner costs and how rolling works

All trait rolls take place at two scanner stations beside the Sandcrawler, outside the first base. Set on opposing sides of the area, they split traffic when a public lobby fills up instead of directing everyone to one console. Each station rests on a platform surrounded by teal light, with a blue interaction marker hovering above it and a yellow “SCAN DROID TRAITS” prompt.

Interacting with the terminal brings up your droid list. Select a droid to view its current trait, if it has one, and the price. Choose Discover Trait for a droid without a trait; if it already has one, choose Reroll Trait. Confirming immediately deducts Nova Crystals from your balance. A successful scan sends a beam of light upward from the droid and displays a result banner, such as “DEFAULT TRAIT! +5% CRITICAL CHANCE” or “RAINBOW TRAIT! +100% PICKAXE AMOUNT ON FUSIONS.” You can then see the result on its entry in the companion management menu.

Droid rarityExampleDiscover TraitReroll Trait

MythicAxi-Pod55 Nova Crystals10 Nova Crystals

The two rarities price things very differently. Iconic droids charge a flat rate for both actions. Mythic droids charge more for the first scan and then make rerolls cheap. At 10 crystals a pull, one Iconic reroll buys you twenty attempts on a Mythic droid. Landing a top Iconic trait can take hundreds of Nova Crystals of rerolls, and there’s no pity system or guaranteed outcome.

Rerolling replaces the trait already equipped. If a droid has a Rainbow trait you want to keep, another scan risks losing it.

Standard Droid Traits any droid can roll

The terminal’s Trait Guide button opens a two-page reference. Page one covers the shared pool that any droid can roll, sorted into Common, Gold, Diamond, and Rainbow tiers. Iconic droids can roll these too, so a BB-8 or WG-22 isn’t locked to its exclusive trait.

Each result also carries a quality label, and that label tells you where the number landed in its range. Default rolls sit at the floor, so a Default Critical Chance gives +5% and a Default Critical Amount gives +10%. Rainbow rolls hit the ceiling, with +50% Critical Amount or +100% Pickaxe Amount on Fusions. Gold lands in between. A Gold Critical Chance roll, for example, gives +10%.

Chip Finder and Golden Splash Refill in practice

The two Rainbow-only traits are the ones that behave differently. Chip Finder adds +100% Upgrade Chips when you finish building a droid, which doubles the base chip payout from every completed craft. A BB-8 carrying it gets a second boost stacked on his own chip-focused drop perk, and the bonus applies during big assemblies like a Rainbow Tri-Tek.

Golden Splash Refill hands you a Gold Splash every two minutes while you’re hitting the Depot or crafting bench. A common CB droid can roll it, and the refill triggers during normal workstation crafting.

Iconic Droid Traits and the droids that own them

The Iconic traits are listed on page two of the Trait Guide. Each is exclusive to one named droid and cannot appear on another.

Each of these droids also has its own drop perk and its own default companion trait. Those numbers matter for the “while working” traits in particular, because they’re exactly what gets passed through.

BB-8, DJ R-3X, and D-O: companion bonuses while working

Three Iconic traits share the wording “Companion Bonus Active while working,” and no standard trait does anything like it. Normally a droid’s companion bonus only applies while it’s equipped at your side. With this trait, the droid keeps paying out while assigned to a workstation. That frees a companion slot for something else, which is the closest thing to a free extra companion in the game.

  • BB-8 keeps granting 2x Upgrade Chips, plus his companion stats.
  • DJ R-3X keeps granting 2x World Mission Progress, so crates across world tasks fill faster.
  • D-O keeps granting Half Fusion Time, a 50% boost at the fusion station.

CB-23, R2-D2, and WG-22: mission and crate multipliers

CB-23‘s Hyperdrive triples the rewards from CB-23 missions. In practice, a mission reward crate that normally holds 40 Nova Crystals pays out 120. That’s the same currency you spend at the scanner, so the trait partly pays for its own rerolls.

R2-D2‘s Double Crate Chance gives each completed Astromech mission a coin flip’s chance of spawning two crates instead of one. That stacks on top of his drop perk, which already doubles the assigned Astromech reward.

WG-22‘s Flawless Duplicator triggers whenever you craft a Flawless droid. A copy of that droid’s blueprint arrives inside a delivered reward crate, flagged on the HUD as “WG-22 CRATE READY!”

Mister Bones, IG-11 Marshal, and Chopper: combat and protection

Mister Bones is the combat pick. His Lifesteal trait heals 20% of your HP each time you eliminate an enemy, on top of a 2x Damage drop perk and +50% Critical Amount as a companion.

IG-11 Marshal‘s Blueprint Protector fixes a very public-lobby problem. Blueprints you drop can’t be picked up by anyone else, so rivals can’t steal or grief them in open areas.

Chopper‘s Crit Expert adds +1 Multi Crit, which speeds up workbench crafting. It also has a clean partner. A WG-22 that rolls a Rainbow +50% Critical Amount standard trait, equipped alongside Chopper, gives you more crits that each hit harder.

A few Iconic droids also pass along benefits without being equipped. C-3PO doubles selling value, and D-O’s fusion boost works the same hands-off way.

Iconic Droid Traits and Super Rebirths

The scanner display states: “Iconic Droid Traits persist between Super Rebirths!” Chopper, BB-8, and every other Iconic droid retain a favorable roll after a Super Rebirth, so you won’t pay for it a second time. This changes how to weigh the 200 Nova Crystal cost: an Iconic reroll is a long-term investment, while a low-cost Mythic reroll can be treated as disposable.
