Genshin Impact 7.1: Vesna’s Ruler of Life Bloodline Cutscene Explained

What the Armory Palace scene reveals about the Vila lineage, Mitya's death mark, and the Mirror of Remembrance.

What the Armory Palace scene reveals about the Vila lineage, Mitya’s death mark, and the Mirror of Remembrance.

The long-teased question of why Vesna matters so much to Snezhnaya’s plan gets an answer inside the Armory Palace, in the scene where the Jester gathers everyone around the Mirror of Remembrance. Two authorities are needed to read the crystal, and both of them are standing in the room.

Quick answer: Vesna carries the Ruler of Life’s power through her Vila bloodline. An Archangel stole that power during the Hyperborean era, and it has been passed down her line ever since.

Where the bloodline reveal happens in Version 7.1

The scene plays during the Archon Quest content added in Version 7.1, “A Rekviem for the Underworld,” which went live on September 23, 2026 on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Android, and iOS. The Jester leads Anastasya, Danica, the Traveler, and Paimon down a corridor into the Armory Palace’s central chamber, where Vesna and Mitya are already waiting beside a floating device. The quest step that ends with the memory extraction is Light and Shadow, Intertwined.

Clearing the full Archon Quest hands out Primogems ×620, so a completed reward popup is the simplest confirmation that you have seen every part of the sequence rather than stopping partway through the chamber scene.

Vesna and Danica before the Armory Palace

Vesna’s first proper showing in Snezhnaya is not a lore dump at all. Danica corners Aether and Paimon at a restaurant table, talking about sizing up threat levels the moment a potential enemy appears, and Paimon can feel the temperature dropping.

She then proposes a Mora game her mentor taught her. She flips a coin into the air, and Aether has to stop it from landing on the table. That turns into a fast hand-to-hand duel across the restaurant, complete with on-screen key prompts.

Vesna ends it by catching the coin with Anemo, then asks Danica why military games belong in a modest restaurant. Danica argues she is covering for Vesna by measuring the Traveler’s strength ahead of the audience with the Tsaritsa. Vesna pays the tab with the owner, Nefedov, orders Caviar Blinis for later, and leaves. That argument is the setup for how much weight her own power carries once the group reaches the palace.

Who carries which power

The chamber conversation starts with the Jester saying he holds traces of both life and death powers, which is enough to make Paimon do a double take.

He then points to where the death side comes from. Mitya’s soul carries the mark of the Ruler of Death, and Mitya himself treats the curse and the nightmares as an ordeal that at least turns out to be useful. That leaves the obvious follow-up, which Mitya asks himself while turning toward Vesna.

Vesna launches into a dramatic tease about the Vila’s most guarded secret, but Anastasya gets to the answer immediately: during the Hyperborean era, an Archangel took the Ruler of Life’s power, which then passed along the Vila lineage until it reached Vesna. Her sole grievance is that someone took her thunder.

Vesna’s own account of the power elsewhere adds a small but telling detail about her relationship with the Tsaritsa.

Why the Mirror of Remembrance needs both authorities

At the chamber’s center, a massive floating crystal serves as the Mirror of Remembrance, which allows access to memories. Mitya pauses to stare at its immense size, and the Jester then identifies it. Their objective is to examine death and resurrection, so Vesna asks Pierro outright if they intend to connect the prism with the two powers. He says that approach offers the best access to the memories they seek.

Mitya’s reaction is less grand. He worries that private memories will leak out of the device, specifically his secret trips to the theater. Danica questions why he is keeping any of it secret at all, and Pierro simply promises to pretend he saw nothing.

The Jester warns that the volume of information is enormous and asks for patience while he searches. A blue pulse spreads out from the prism as it activates, and the Traveler waits on the gantry until he announces that he has pulled out memory fragments to view.

What the retrieved memory shows

Within a blank white void, Ronova and Rhinedottir examine death’s consequences and the Heavenly Principles. Naberius appears, and the trio debates the dangers and duties associated with the Four Shades. Rhinedottir accepts Ronova’s proposal only if she can remain out of sight in Snezhnaya.

The group returns to the present, where Mitya, Vesna, and the Jester interpret the scene they witnessed as a Celestia-enforced cycle of death followed by resurrection. Pantalone and Sandrone enter during the exchange and suggest turning the Ruler of Life’s authority against death’s power.

Seals of Life and what extracting them costs

Sandrone lays out a balance between life force and death, and suggests drawing life force out of living beings. Vesna demonstrates what that looks like by gathering energy in her hands and producing an ornate golden sphere, a Seal of Life.

The seal is not abstract energy. Vesna explains that it forms out of vivid memories that push back against death, and the one she produces plays back a scene of her and Danica sharing a meal and toasting after Danica returned from her travels.

Sandrone says that drawing out life force inflicts no bodily injury, whereas harming a seal wipes the memories connected to it.

Vesna asks whether anyone objects before collecting. The Traveler and Paimon volunteer first, and she goes on to draw golden seals from Mitya, the Jester, and the rest of the group.

Anastasya’s scan and what comes after

The one result Vesna does not expect comes when she tries to draw life force from Anastasya. Instead of memories, she finds an endless snowy void with nothing in it, and the shock registers immediately. Sandrone confirms the samples are sufficient regardless, Anastasya orders Mitya to assist with the research, and the group is dismissed. Pantalone stays behind to request a private word as everyone else clears the chamber.

The seals return later in the version under far worse conditions. A golden winged beast drops into a central arena while Vesna shouts a warning, purple rifts tear open overhead, and the camera pans across rows of glowing orb seals mounted on the wall before Aether calls out that the beast is aiming for them.

Taken together, the Armory Palace sequence reframes Vesna from the Tsaritsa’s loyal commander into one half of the key that Snezhnaya needs to read the past at all, with Mitya holding the other. It also puts a price on the plan, because every seal handed over is a memory someone is willing to risk losing.
