As One Might Stride Betwixt the Clouds is the first act of the Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon event in Genshin Impact 7.1. It sends the Traveler from Yilong Wharf to Liyue Harbor to help a confused, white-haired stranger who turns out to be a remnant soul bound to a rattan puppet.
Quick answer: Track the quest in the event menu, speak with Lan Yan and the distressed man in Yilong Wharf, then travel to Liyue Harbor to talk with Boss Lu, Zibai, and Zhongli to finish the act.
How to unlock As One Might Stride Betwixt the Clouds
You unlock this act by completing the Song of the Dragon and Freedom Archon Quest. Once that requirement is met, the quest appears automatically in your Quest Journal while the event is live.
For the most complete story experience, it also helps to finish the Escoffier Story Quest, the Mizuki Story Quest, and The Realm of People beforehand, since characters from those arcs appear during the event.
Before setting out, use the Events Overview screen to choose Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon, then track As One Might Stride Betwixt the Clouds. The Quest Log lets you review the quest description and rewards beforehand.
Head to Yilong Wharf in Liyue as requested in Xiangling’s letter. You will find her with Escoffier, and speaking with them along with Ningguang and Lan Yan unlocks the event minigames.
After viewing the moon display, find Lan Yan on the terrace overlooking the docks for a chat. She explains why she stepped away from the clan elders’ meeting and shares some background on her studies.
Go down to the food street stalls to investigate a lost-looking man labeled ??? who is clutching his head. He complains that international cuisine has replaced the true spirit of the Moonchase Festival, and Lan Yan invites him to talk privately.
Follow Lan Yan and the man to the quieter tea tables by the water. There she reveals he is not human but a remnant soul bound to a rattan puppet through the clan’s forbidden Soul-Binding Art.
Continue the conversation over tea. Lan Yan deduces that the man’s memories may reach back to ancient Guili, which prompts Paimon to suggest consulting the White Horse Adeptus, Zibai.
From the world map, teleport to the upper Liyue Harbor waypoint by Baiju Guesthouse. Once there, speak to Boss Lu; he sends you to Iron Tongue Tian to locate Zibai.
Make your way through the harbor streets to Iron Tongue Tian’s storytelling stage. Zibai and Zhongli are seated together at a nearby tea table, listening to the folklore.
Talk with Zibai, Zhongli, and the stranger. Zibai recognizes him as her old acquaintance Lan Junming, the “Wind Reader” and “Mad Lan,” who invented the Soul-Binding Art and bound himself on purpose. Zhongli proposes attending an ancient Moon-Viewing Gathering at Wangshu Inn in two days to help jog his memories. Lan Junming agrees, and the quest completes.

Festive Cheer is the event currency. You can trade it for goodies such as Primogems and level-up materials, along with the free event weapon Silver Light and its refinement materials.
Confirm the quest is complete
Once Lan Junming agrees to attend the gathering at Wangshu Inn, the quest closes out and the reward screen appears with the Primogems, Mora, Hero’s Wit, and Festive Cheer listed above. You can reopen the Quest menu afterward to confirm As One Might Stride Betwixt the Clouds no longer shows remaining objectives and to check what comes next in the event line.
