Genshin Impact Frost Moon Local Legends: Mushteshir and Prism Slime (6.7)

Where the two new Frost Moon super bosses spawn and the exact steps to trigger each fight.

Where the two new Frost Moon super bosses spawn and the exact steps to trigger each fight.

The Version 6.7 Luna VIII update dropped two new Local Legends into Genshin Impact, both tucked away on the Frost Moon, the lunar subregion of Nod-Krai that went live on July 1, 2026. Local Legends are tougher, one-off versions of standard enemies, and clearing each one pays out rewards, including Primogems, through the Nod-Krai Adventurers’ Guild.

Quick answer: Prism Slime spawns in the small pocket between the Lunar Pool and Ungien’s Circle in the southern Lunar Highlands; Mushteshir hides behind a switch-triggered arena in the northwest of Ungien’s Circle. You must first progress the Moon Gazing World Quest to reach the Frost Moon’s surface before either can be found.

Unlock the Frost Moon first

Neither boss is reachable until you open up the Frost Moon surface. That happens through the Moon Gazing World Quest chain. To start it, head to the Statue of the New Frost Moon east of the Voidsea Outlook in Nod-Krai, then follow the kuuhenkis to begin. As you push through the quest chain, more of the Lunar Highlands and its waypoints gradually open, including Ungien’s Circle, which both Local Legends sit near.

Note: Reaching Adventure Rank 20 and completing Archon Quest Prologue: Act III, “Song of the Dragon and Freedom,” is the baseline requirement for the surrounding Nod-Krai content, so clear those before expecting the moon quests to appear.

Prism Slime location and how to reach it

Prism Slime is the simpler of the two. It waits in the small stretch of land south of the Lunar Highlands, in the gap between the Lunar Pool and Ungien’s Circle. You need Ungien’s Circle unlocked from the Moon Gazing chain before this spot is accessible.

Open the High-Speed Transit System in the southern part of the Lunar Highlands and route toward the Lunar Pool.
While mid-flight, drop into the crater where the waypoint sits. Exit the transit the moment you arrive at the area rather than overshooting it.
Look to your right and you will spot a large gray slime. That is the Prism Slime. Defeat it, then collect the reward from the Nod-Krai Adventurers’ Guild.

Mushteshir location and switch sequence

Mushteshir is a boosted version of the Precursor’s Secret Source Matrix of Overseer Network, the automaton enemy you meet in the Frost Moon’s open world. It sits in the northwest of the Ungien’s Circle region and only appears after you clear two waves of standard Overseer Network Automatons at a switch-gated arena.

Travel to the northwest section of Ungien’s Circle and unlock the Teleport Waypoint there. Walk a short way north from it to find an underground passage.
Follow the crack in the terrain and keep moving through the passage until you reach an arena with a switch beside it.
Activate the switch once to trigger the first wave of Overseer Network Automatons, then again for the second wave. Clear both.
Hit the switch a third time. This spawns Mushteshir. Take it down to claim the matching reward from the Nod-Krai Adventurers’ Guild.

Tip: The base Overseer Network enemy leans on Hydro and a Convergence Field mechanic. Freezing it and then breaking the ice with reactions like Shatter or Melt disrupts that field, which carries over usefully to the Mushteshir fight.

Confirming your rewards

Local Legend payouts are not handed over on the spot. After you defeat either boss, the reward becomes claimable at the Nod-Krai Adventurers’ Guild. Check that the corresponding Local Legend entry updates there as cleared, then collect the Primogems and other items tied to it. If a boss will not appear, the usual cause is that the Moon Gazing chain has not been progressed far enough to open the relevant part of the Lunar Highlands, so return to that quest before trying again.
