Every step, camera prompt, and reward for the opening chapter of the Chapter VII, Act III Archon Quest in Snezhnaya.
by Kabir Anand
Version 7.1 pushes the Snezhnaya arc into the Tsaritsa’s throne room, and Light and Shadow, Intertwined is the quest that gets you through the door. It is the first of three subquests in the Chapter VII, Act III Archon Quest “White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking,” and it is mostly dialogue, with a handful of camera-based interaction prompts and one Quick Time Event that can catch you off guard if you are half paying attention.
Quick answer: Finish the Mistilteinn quest first, then speak to Childe in Glupov to begin. The quest ends when you leave the Armory Palace, and rewards must be claimed manually from the Snezhnaya Adventure Journal.
Unlock requirements for Light and Shadow, Intertwined
The quest becomes available once you have cleared the Archon Quest content that precedes it. Mistilteinn sits inside the Wraith’s Nocturne quest line, which is Chapter VII, Act II, and that entire act has to be finished before Act III appears in your quest list.

Budget around 25 to 30 minutes if you skip dialogue and move straight between markers. Reading everything, including the court scene and the memory sequences, pushes the run closer to 50 minutes or a full hour. Focused Experience Mode is supported for this act if you want the story without the detours.
Starting in Glupov and reaching the Podvorye Restaurant
Open the Quest Menu, select Light and Shadow, Intertwined under Chapter VII: Act III, and use the navigation marker to teleport to the waypoint nearest Glupov. Everything in the opening stretch happens within walking distance of that point.
Find Childe outside in Glupov and talk to him about arranging a meeting with the Tsaritsa. He sets the audience at Zapolyarny Palace for the following morning, which is what drives the rest of the quest.
Head back through the snowy streets of Snezhnograd to the Podvorye Restaurant. Walking inside triggers a long cutscene over a meal, and this is where the interactive prompts begin.
Restaurant interaction prompts and the Mora game QTE
The scene at the table does not advance on its own. A maid-uniformed attendant named Danica joins you and orders from the owner, Nefedov, and the conversation pauses at several points until you point the camera at the right thing and click it. None of the choices are missable in a punishing way, but the scene will stall until you respond.
When Danica sits down and asks her first question, tilt the camera vertically or horizontally to answer. Either direction works, so pick one and the scene continues.
Wait for Paimon to speak, turn the camera toward the right, and select her. Next, face Danica again and select her so the discussion moves back to the table.
When Danica’s exchange with the owner ends, use the food interaction. Raise your view to Danica, then inspect both sides and activate the prompt on the left and the one on the right.
Continue the dialogue until Danica presents the Mora game: this military drill requires stopping a thrown Mora coin before it hits the tabletop. A Quick Time Event follows in the cutscene, so be ready to use the controls.
The QTE arrives right as the coin is flicked into the air, immediately after a long stretch of dialogue. That is the easiest prompt in the quest to miss.
The duel spills across the dining room until Vesna teleports in, snatches the coin out of the air, and ends it. She names the maid as Danica, tells her off for running military drills in a civilian diner, and pays for the meal before leaving.
To rest, climb the stairs and choose the room positioned to the staircase’s right. The Traveler spends the night asleep and comes to outside Zapolyarny Palace the following morning.
Zapolyarny Palace: the court audience and the Third Descender’s seal
When control returns, climb the long exterior stairs to the palace. Childe is waiting at the top with advice on court etiquette, and following him inside starts the throne room scene.
Sit through the court assembly. Anastasya Feodorovna Snezhnaya presides over her ministers and the Harbingers while Pulcinella delivers reports on Kristall rationing and audits, and Pierro and Mitya explain how Ronova’s curse is holding up their weapons research. The Tsaritsa then addresses you directly and grants you full access to the palace.
Once the audience wraps, enter the room on the right to continue the conversation in her private study. The talk covers the missing Pyro Gnosis, which burned away in Irminsul and returned to the Ley Lines, what the Gnoses actually are as remnants of the Third Descender, and her rejection of love as her assigned divine domain.
Enter the inner sanctum behind the Tsaritsa and reach the seal left there by the Third Descender. Danica soon escorts Pierro inside, where he confirms that preparations are complete for the experiment involving the Ruler of Death. He also explains how the transcription prism preserves memories unaffected by Teyvat’s laws.
Armory Palace memory sequence and the two interaction points
Fast travel back to Glupov and walk into the Armory Palace. Pierro, the Tsaritsa, and Danica head in with you to meet the research team, and another long conversation plays out on the central platform.
Have Pierro identify Vesna as the Druzhna’s Commander and a Vila fae with inherited authority over life; he then reveals the Mirror of Remembrance, a prism device for reading memories connected to Life and Death. Allow the dialogue to finish.
Stand on the yellow marker on the floor and wait while Pierro pulls the memory. The first projection shows Ronova and Rhinedottir discussing life, death, and Celestia’s scheduled monitoring, with Naberius joining them later.
Danica and Vesna’s second memory contains two interaction points, with no others required. Start with the suitcase behind Danica, then select the drink on Vesna’s table. The scene concludes after both interactions.
From there the group settles on using Vesna’s authority over life to push back against the death curse, with Sandrone and Vesna proposing Seals of Life drawn from people’s meaningful memories. The quest closes out as you step back outside the Armory Palace.
Rewards and how to claim them from the Snezhnaya Adventure Journal
Nothing lands in your inventory when the quest ends, which is the part most people trip over. The payout sits in the Snezhnaya Adventure Journal, the icon next to your minimap directly under the Paimon menu, and you have to open it and collect manually.

What comes next in Chapter VII, Act III
Two subquests follow inside the same act, Sparks Converging Upon the Tundra and One Move Left to Make. Clearing all three closes out White Night, Like a Dream Upon Waking.
Finishing the full act is also the gate for a few other things added in 7.1. The world quest Swords and Secrets becomes available, weekly Secret Tsarist Assignments open up through Confidential Secretary Chayka at Zapolyarny Palace, and Chapter VII, Act IV, A Rekviem for the Underworld, unlocks after that. So treat this first stretch as the setup it is, and keep going while the momentum is there.
