Graveyard Keeper 2: How to Get Bronze Nails (Wooden Anvil Recipe)

Where to salvage Bronze Nails around the Yard, and how to turn Bronze Scrap into six Nails at a time.

Where to salvage Bronze Nails around the Yard, and how to turn Bronze Scrap into six Nails at a time.

Bronze Nails are the fastener that gates most of the first structures you build in Graveyard Keeper 2. They show up in recipe after recipe during the opening hours, and because several of those recipes unlock other production chains, being a handful of Nails short can freeze progress in three places at once. There are two ways to keep the stock topped up, and you will want both running.

Quick answer: Chop up Broken Barrels and sort Trash Piles around your house; alternatively, after Bronze Works unlocks, use a Wooden Anvil to make 6 Bronze Nails from 1 Bronze Scrap.

What Bronze Nails are used for in the early Yard

Four early structures eat most of your Nails, and each one opens a different production line. That is why it pays to hold a reserve instead of spending every Nail the moment you get it.

StructureWhat it unlocks

Stonemason’s WorkbenchStone processing
Firewood ShedFuel production
Hardening BucketFurther bronze crafting

The Hardening Bucket is the one that stings, since it costs 8 Bronze Nails plus 4 Wood Planks and needs to sit near your anvil to open up the rest of the bronze recipes. Nails keep appearing in mid-game builds too, so the supply problem never fully goes away — it just gets cheaper to solve.

Salvage Bronze Nails from Broken Barrels and Trash Piles

The junk scattered around the Keeper’s new home is the fastest source, and it requires no technology at all. Broken Barrels and Trash Piles usually spawn together in groups of two or three, and both of them hold Nails.

Keep an axe equipped and break the barrels apart. Trash Piles are different — you sort them by hand rather than chopping them, so no tool is needed.

Pickups register as floating notifications in the corner, so you can see exactly what each pile gave you without opening the inventory. Quantities are small per object — a couple of Nails and a Scrap is typical — which is why clearing a whole cluster matters more than hunting for one perfect barrel.

Debris is dense around the Inquisitor’s base and the house itself, then thins out as you push deeper into the surrounding land. A few barrels and piles also sit in the village, so it is worth sweeping on your way through.

Breaking barrels and sorting piles feeds the Junk Fighter line of Inspirations, which pushes your Metallurgy progress along while you scavenge.

Forge Bronze Nails from Bronze Scrap at a Wooden Anvil

Salvage eventually dries up. Once it does, the anvil turns the Bronze Scraps you have been hoarding into a repeatable supply, and the conversion rate is generous enough that a small pile of Scrap covers several projects.

Open the Tech Tree and go to the Metallurgy tab. Unlock Bronze Works, the first node in the branch, for 5 Red Tech Points. It grants both the Bronze Nails recipe and the Wooden Anvil blueprint.
At your main Yard, use its Blueprint Table to build a Wooden Anvil. The recipe takes 1 Short Log, cut at a Sawhorse, plus 1 Stone mined from nearby rocks with a pickaxe.
Walk up to the anvil, open its menu and pick the Bronze Nails recipe. Every craft converts 1 Bronze Scrap into 6 Bronze Nails.

The anvil accepts Bronze Ingots as an input later on, once Bronze melting and a furnace are in the picture. There is no reason to rush that far for Nails alone — Scrap is free, sitting in the same barrels and piles you are already clearing.

Chopping barrels and working the anvil both burn stamina, so keep high-quality food in your inventory instead of stopping to rest between crafts.

How to confirm your Bronze Nail supply is working

You will know the salvage route is paying off when Bronze Nails show up in the pickup notifications after each chop or sort, and the count climbs in your inventory. On the crafting side, the Wooden Anvil appearing in the Blueprint Table list confirms Bronze Works went through, and the Bronze Nails recipe appearing at the anvil confirms the station is built and usable.

The build menu provides the clearest confirmation. With enough Nails in storage, the Hardening Bucket, Firewood Shed, Stonemason’s Workbench, and Woodworking Workbench no longer show a missing-material warning and can be built. Clear the debris, use 5 Red Tech Points on Bronze Works, and keep every Scrap you find; Nails will no longer hold back your Yard.
