Greedy Growers Beginner’s Guide: Growing Trees Before Lightning Strikes

How the buy, plant, grow, and harvest loop works, plus mutations, pets, and rebirths in the Roblox tycoon.

How the buy, plant, grow, and harvest loop works, plus mutations, pets, and rebirths in the Roblox tycoon.

Greedy Growers is a Roblox tycoon simulation built around one nervy decision: keep a tree growing for a bigger payout, or harvest it now before lightning wipes it out. Every plant gains value the longer it stays in the ground, but a strike can hit at any moment and reduce a promising tree to a low-value husk. The whole game turns on how greedy you are willing to be.

Quick answer: Buy a seed from the river in the middle of the map, plant it on an open plot, watch its cash value and multiplier climb as it grows, then press Harvest before lightning strikes. Reinvest the money into more seeds and repeat.

The core gameplay loop

The whole game runs on a short cycle you repeat over and over. Seeds cost cash, so you always need money in hand before you can plant, and steady harvests are what fund your next purchase.

Head to the river that spawns in the middle of the map and buy a seed you can comfortably afford. Don’t drain your entire balance on one expensive option early on.
Return to your plot and plant the seed on an open spot. Keeping at least one empty plot free means a freshly bought seed never goes to waste.
Watch the tree grow. As it gets larger, its cash value and multiplier both rise, and you can track both numbers in real time.
Press the Harvest button once you are happy with the value, then sell the tree and use the cash to buy your next seed.

When to harvest and how lightning works

You never know exactly when lightning will strike. A tree could reach an enormous value, or it could be destroyed while it is still a small sapling. That uncertainty is the entire risk-reward system. The longer you wait, the higher the potential reward and the higher the chance of losing everything.

For new players, safer early harvests build resources faster than chasing one giant tree. Once you have a stable cash reserve to replace a failed plant, longer growth cycles become worth the gamble.

Healthy trees vs. dead trees

What you can do after harvesting depends on whether the tree survived. A healthy, unstruck tree has two uses. You can sell it at the Sell Shop for immediate cash, or place it in the garden behind your plot to generate income over time.

A tree that gets hit becomes a dead tree. Dead trees can still be sold, but for far less money, and they cannot be planted in your garden. That is the trade-off behind every harvest decision: cash out a healthy tree, or keep waiting and risk being left with a low-value husk. Dead trees can also be sold to the merchant, just at a much lower price.

Gardens and passive fruit income

Planting a healthy tree in your garden turns it into a second income stream. Garden trees produce fruit that you can sell at the market, and they keep producing over time, so they act as passive income while you focus on other things.

Fruit does not appear instantly. Each type has its own growth timer before the next one is ready. A Coconut, for example, takes around two minutes to regrow after you pick one. Because this happens in the background, a stocked garden lets you keep earning while you buy, plant, and harvest fresh seeds elsewhere.

Mutations and weather events

Fruit from garden trees can gain mutations that raise its value, sometimes well above the normal price. Mutations are tied to the weather events that occur in the world, so an ordinary fruit can suddenly be worth much more depending on conditions. Keeping garden trees planted is the reliable way to catch these higher-value harvests as weather rolls in.

Fertilizers

Fertilizers change how your trees grow. You start with only the Basic Fertilizer, and the rest are locked until you unlock them through rebirths. After selecting an available fertilizer, your tree grows with its effect applied, and you can watch the value and multiplier climb from there.

Pets and eggs

Pets add buffs that help your garden and overall progression. There are 24 pets in total, including five exclusive ones from the Majestic Egg in the Robux Shop. The other five eggs are bought with Tickets, and each egg can hatch different pets with their own abilities.

How to earn Tickets

Tickets are the currency for pet eggs and furniture, so they matter more than they first appear. The main sources are steady and reward exploration.

  • Complete your Index by adding new discoveries, including seeds, fruits, pets, worms, and mutations.
  • Sell certain fruits at the Farmer’s Market.
  • Redeem active codes for the game.

Filling out your Index does double duty, since discoveries also help you work toward better pets.

Rebirths and long-term progression

Rebirths are the backbone of long-term progress. Performing one unlocks new features, including additional fertilizers, extra plots, the Lucky Wheel, pets, and other upgrades.

The catch is the cost. You need the required amount of money before you can rebirth, and that money is spent in the process. You also lose your seeds when you reset, so it is worth making sure you are ready before pulling the trigger.

Once the buy, plant, grow, and harvest rhythm feels natural, the deeper systems start to compound. Healthy trees feed your garden, gardens produce mutated fruit for extra cash and Tickets, Tickets hatch pets that speed everything up, and rebirths open the fertilizers and plots that let you take bigger swings. The greedier your timing, the bigger the swings in both directions, so let your cash reserve decide how much lightning you are willing to gamble against.
