Grounded 2: How to Get the Tiger Mosquito Rapier in Into the Abyss

Hunt a Tiger Mosquito, analyze its beak, and craft this Tier 3 Life Steal sword at a Workbench.

Hunt a Tiger Mosquito, analyze its beak, and craft this Tier 3 Life Steal sword at a Workbench.

The Tiger Mosquito Rapier is a Tier 3 one-handed sword in Grounded 2 built from parts you strip off a Tiger Mosquito. It deals Stabbing damage, swings fast, and carries the Life Steal perk, which returns health to you on every hit. Getting it comes down to three actions: kill the bug, analyze the right part, then craft the weapon.

Quick answer: Defeat a Tiger Mosquito to collect a Tiger Mosquito Beak, analyze that beak at a Resource Analyzer to unlock the recipe, then craft the rapier at a Workbench using 2 Tiger Mosquito Beak, 4 Rust, and 4 Mosquito Blood Sack.

What you need before crafting

Everything the rapier requires drops from mosquitoes, with Rust gathered separately in the world. The beak also doubles as the recipe unlock, so your first kill covers both the analysis and part of the crafting cost.

Where to find a Tiger Mosquito

Tiger Mosquitoes patrol the water areas of the yard, often near water plants and shoreline biomes where regular mosquitoes also gather. Open the map to pinpoint your position and route toward the wet zones before you commit to a fight.

The Tiger Mosquito is a Tier 2 creature with 850 health. It is weak to Slashing and Fresh damage and resists Smashing, so bring a slashing weapon rather than a blunt one. Peeping the bug first confirms its tier and weaknesses before you engage.

Kill the mosquito and collect its parts

Approach the water plants and close in on a Tiger Mosquito. Keep your footing on the shoreline so you are not swarmed by the normal mosquitoes nearby.

Attack with a slashing weapon to exploit its weakness. Stay mobile to avoid its stabbing lunges while you whittle down the 850 health pool.
Harvest the remains after the kill. A single Tiger Mosquito drops a Mosquito Blood Sack and a Tiger Mosquito Beak, with a chance for extra beaks and blood sacks on top.

You will need to farm a few of these bugs to gather 2 beaks and 4 blood sacks for the full recipe. Because rare drops can hand you multiple beaks per kill, repeat runs go quickly.

Analyze the beak to unlock the recipe

Return to an outpost lab and open the Resource Analyzer. Insert the Tiger Mosquito Beak and run the analysis.
Wait for the Analysis Complete screen. Analyzing the beak unlocks the Tiger Mosquito Rapier along with the Tiger Mosquito Wall Mount and Stuffed Tiger Mosquito, and awards 30 Raw Science.

Craft the Tiger Mosquito Rapier at a Workbench

Walk up to a Workbench and open the crafting menu. Head to Weapons, then One-Handed, and select the Tiger Mosquito Rapier.

Confirm the craft once you have 2 Tiger Mosquito Beak, 4 Rust, and 4 Mosquito Blood Sack in your inventory. The rapier appears in your gear once the materials are consumed.

You will know it worked when the weapon leaves the recipe menu and shows up as a craftable, then equippable item. If the craft option stays greyed out, you are short on one of the three materials, most often the beaks, since each kill only guarantees one.

Tiger Mosquito Rapier stats

The rapier is a fast, single-target weapon built around sustain. Its Life Steal perk heals you for 6% of the damage you deal, which pairs well with its quick attack speed for extended fights.

When the sword wears down, repair it at a station using 1 Tiger Mosquito Beak and 1 Mosquito Blood Sack. Keeping a small stock of both materials means you can keep the rapier in rotation without hunting fresh bugs every time.
