The Hedgehog is a Rare, event-exclusive pet in Grow a Garden 2, tied to the Fall Harvest Event. It works as a guard, patrolling your plot and chasing down anyone who tries to steal your crops. When it catches a thief, it knocks them over and forces them to drop whatever they took.
Quick answer: Travel to the Fall Harvest map through the Explorer station, then buy the Hedgehog when it appears as a purchasable pet for 140,000 Leaves. Equip it to an active pet slot to make it defend your farm.

Add to Google Preferences →How to reach the Fall Harvest map and buy the Hedgehog
The Hedgehog is not sold in the main game. You have to be standing on the Fall Harvest Event map for it to show up, and even then its appearance depends on a spawn roll.
You know the purchase worked once the Hedgehog lands in your pet inventory and is ready to equip. If it is not on the map, the 1% roll simply did not land yet, so keep farming Leaves and check back on the sale slot.
What the Hedgehog does once equipped
Open your inventory and place the Hedgehog into an active pet slot. From there it patrols your farm on its own and watches for intruders. Any thief that steps into its range gets chased down and tackled.
The tackle knocks the trespasser over. That stumble makes them drop anything they had already stolen from your plot, which lets you recover crops that would otherwise be lost during a raid.
Pairing the Hedgehog with defensive gear such as Gnomes and the Wind Staff builds a stronger perimeter during the Fall Harvest Event. As your garden grows and holds more valuable harvests, that layered defense becomes more useful for keeping other players off your crops.
