Jason and Lucia are going to need firepower to get anywhere in Vice City, and the Extended Look plus the trailers have already shown off a good chunk of what they will be carrying. The arsenal covers the usual Grand Theft Auto spread, from cheap sidearms to shotguns, SMGs, and throwables, along with a heavily reworked inventory system borrowed from Red Dead Redemption 2.
Quick answer: Confirmed GTA 6 weapons span handguns, shotguns, SMGs, assault rifles, sniper rifles, heavy weapons, throwables, and melee. Most are bought from Phil’s Ammu-Nation or looted off downed enemies, and you can carry two rifles and two pistols at once while the rest stay in your vehicle’s trunk.

Confirmed GTA 6 weapons from trailers and the Extended Look
These are the weapons that have shown up on screen in the trailers and the August 2026 Extended Look. Some carry in-game names, others are only visible for a second or two, so a few labels are best guesses based on how they look. Everything here can still change before the full game lands.
| Category | Weapons spotted |
|---|---|
| Handguns | Pistol (with silencer and torch attachments), Heavy Pistol, Mustang .357 revolver, Girardi ES9, Klose K17, Nipper .38 |
| Shotguns | Moreland 850, Double Barrel Shotgun, Pump Action Shotgun |
| SMGs and machine guns | Uzi (Micro SMG), Compact SMG, Combat MG |
| Assault rifles | Duke 556, Carbine Rifle, AK-style Assault Rifle |
| Sniper rifles | Bolt Action Sniper, Hunter Sniper, Assault Sniper |
| Heavy weapons | Grenade Launcher, RPG, Speargun |
| Throwables | Molotov, Grenade, Flashbang, Smoke Grenade, Golf Ball |
| Melee | Baseball Bat, Hammer, Crowbar, Knife, Golf Club, Pool Cue, Flashlight, Unarmed (fists) |
| Non-lethal | Taser |
The Duke 556 assault rifle and the Moreland 850 shotgun both appeared clearly, and the shop owner in the Extended Look is seen wielding a shotgun on the roof of his store. The Hammer belongs to a character who does not look eager to hand it over.

Where to get weapons in GTA 6
Phil’s Ammu-Nation looks like the main place to buy guns and ammunition, keeping the series’ long-running gun store tradition alive. Beyond buying, you can pull weapons off enemies you take down, and Jason and Lucia are shown grabbing guns on the fly during firefights.
- Buy firearms and ammo from Ammu-Nation shops.
- Loot weapons from downed enemies during combat.
- Pick up basic guns and melee weapons scattered around the map.
- Unlock certain weapons by completing story missions.
Ultimate Edition exclusive weapons
The Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers are tied to the Ultimate Edition, so they are not part of the standard weapon pool. If you pick up the base game, you will not have access to that pair at launch.

The weapon wheel and how many weapons you can carry
The weapon wheel has been redesigned and splits into two screens, one for weapons and one for items. You switch between them with R1 or RB, the same way Red Dead Redemption 2 handled its radial menu. Barehand fist fighting lives on the Weapons tab alongside your guns.
The weapons screen holds eight slots. The top slot appears to be for pistols, the right-side slot is a sidearm, the slot just below carries tools like binoculars, and the left slot handles throwables such as a Molotov. Down in the lower-left corner you will notice two consumable icons for boosting health and stamina.
Carrying is limited this time. You can hold two rifles and two pistols on your person, and anything extra goes into your vehicle’s trunk, so you plan your loadout before a mission rather than pulling from an endless supply. Dual-wielding from RDR2 is not returning, meaning one weapon at a time, though you can switch which hand you shoot with.
| System | How it works |
|---|---|
| Carry limit | Two rifles and two pistols carried; extras stored in vehicle trunks |
| Weapon wheel | Separate Weapons and Items screens, toggled with R1 / RB |
| Dual-wielding | Not available; one weapon used at a time |
| Shared inventory | Some weapons and items are marked “Shared” between Jason and Lucia |
| Drop and pickup | You can drop unwanted weapons, with dedicated pickup animations |

Combat changes over GTA 5
Gunfights behave differently than they did in GTA 5. As a passenger you can lean out of a window or stand in a truck bed to fire long guns during drive-bys, and for the first time in the series you can shoot while swimming. There is also an “underfire” animation where your character tries to block gunfire, adapting to the weapon held.
NPCs pay attention to what you are holding. Walk around with a weapon drawn in a crowded area and Jason or Lucia will automatically hide it, and civilians react when a gun is visible. Weapon customization is back too, covering magazines, attachments, tints, liveries, and special rounds.
Note: There is no first-person mode at launch. Every classic GTA was third-person until GTA 5 added first-person on later hardware, but that view is not part of GTA 6 at release.
Healing items and gear
The items screen carries more than throwables. Two healing items are confirmed, Zombix and an EpiPen, and Zombix restores health but warns that using it too often reduces how well it works. On the weapon wheel you will spot a medicine bottle and what looks like an adrenaline booster for stamina.
Beyond guns, there is a wider set of gear seen in leaked footage, including body armor, a lock pick, binoculars, zipties, a trauma kit, painkillers, a duffel bag for loot, and a tracker jammer to block GPS tracking. That kind of equipment points toward more planning around heists and stealth than earlier games allowed.

Everything above is drawn from brief clips, screenshots, and the Extended Look, so names and loadouts can shift before the full game arrives in November. Expect the roster to grow as Rockstar reveals more, especially given how the weapon count has climbed with every GTA release.
