The Vapid Caracara (Armored) is a reward vehicle added alongside the Kortz Center Heist in GTA Online. It is a heavily plated version of the standard Caracara, and it is one of the hardest cars in the game to earn because you cannot buy it anywhere. The only way to park one in your garage is to finish a specific set of end-game challenges.
Quick answer: Complete every Tier 4 Career Progress challenge for the Kortz Center Heist on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or GTA V Enhanced on PC. Once all four Tier 4 objectives are done, the Vapid Caracara (Armored) is granted to you automatically.
Platform requirement before you start
The Vapid Caracara (Armored) is locked to the Expanded and Enhanced versions of the game. That means it is only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Enhanced). Career Progress challenges do not exist on the older PS4 and Xbox One versions, so those platforms cannot earn the vehicle at all.
You also need access to the heist itself. Hosting requires a Mansion with the Art Studio expansion, though you can join another player’s heist as a crew member without owning either property. To complete every challenge below, you will need to host your own runs, so owning the Art Studio is effectively mandatory here.

Career Progress for the Kortz Center Heist is split into tiers, and the vehicle sits behind Tier 4. You must clear all four of these objectives before the game hands it over.
| Tier 4 challenge | What it requires |
|---|---|
| Platinum awards | Earn 15 Platinum awards for the heist |
| Elite Challenge | Complete the heist’s Elite Challenge |
| Keep paintings | Keep any 5 stolen paintings for your Mansion |
| Total value stolen | Steal a combined $50,000,000 in primary and secondary targets |
The $50,000,000 target is the slowest part. The first Primary Target sale each week pays the boosted rate of roughly $2,000,000, but repeat runs in the same week drop to the lower buyer-fatigue value. Because of that weekly cap on the big payout, reaching the full total takes many sessions of stealing both primary and secondary artwork.
Keeping five paintings for your Mansion applies only to eligible rotating Primary Targets. The mandatory story painting, La Dernière Débauche, must be sold and cannot be displayed, so plan to hold onto the later rotating targets instead.
How to find and track the challenges
How you know it worked
Once the final Tier 4 challenge ticks over to complete, the Vapid Caracara (Armored) is delivered to you as a personal vehicle. You can then request it through your mechanic and store it in any garage, exactly like other owned cars. It never appears on Warstock Cache & Carry or any other in-game storefront, so this reward path is the only way to keep one.
Note: the armored Caracara you steal during the getaway vehicle prep mission is a separate, temporary heist asset. Completing that prep does not add the car to your garage. The permanent, owned version only comes from finishing Tier 4.
Design and performance
The armored variant looks far more aggressive than the standard Caracara. It wears thick metal plating that appears rusted and worn, giving it a rugged, battle-scarred body. A ramming wedge replaces the front bumper and can shove other vehicles out of the way, while metal sheets cover the windows and windshield to deflect most incoming bullets. Like the base model, it carries a machine gun mounted on the rear bed.

On the performance side, it is classed as an Off-Road vehicle. The game files list a top speed of 83.89 mph (135.00 km/h), all-wheel drive, and five gears. It seats five and is a heavy vehicle at 4,500 kg, which suits its role as a protective ride in busy lobbies.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Class | Off-Road |
| Top speed | 83.89 mph (135.00 km/h) |
| Drivetrain | AWD |
| Gears | 5 |
| Seats | 5 |
| Weight | 4,500 kg |
Because the car is so difficult to obtain, its real-world handling and armor durability remain largely untested by the wider player base. What is certain is the effort involved. Between 15 Platinum awards, the Elite Challenge, five kept paintings, and $50,000,000 in stolen art, the Vapid Caracara (Armored) stands as one of the most demanding vehicle unlocks tied to the Kortz Center Heist.
