Funke is a ranged mage in Guildrun who fights with fire magic, and he is one of the strongest heroes to open a run with. He fires fireballs across a wide area, stacks burn on everything he hits, and scales hard as you rank him up during a single run. If you want a low-risk carry that punishes crowds, he does the job early and stays useful deep into a run.
Quick answer: Start Funke, lean on his Wildfire active for area burn, pick The Detonator passive at Rank B, add Arcane Destruction at Rank A and Burning Casts at Rank S, then pair him with Ming and Pimenta for stacked status damage.

Wildfire, Funke’s active ability
Funke’s active ability is Wildfire. When it casts, he throws fireballs at every enemy inside his range. Each hit deals 175 damage with a 200% magic boost, and it also applies 15 burn with a 66% magic boost. Because both the direct damage and the burn scale off magic, stacking magic makes every part of the cast hit harder.
His base range is 4, so keep him in a back or corner slot where he can see the whole enemy line. That positioning lets him hit more targets per cast and keeps him alive long enough to keep the burn stacks flowing.

Add to Google Preferences →Best passive ability for Funke
Rolling a second Funke lets you upgrade him to Rank B, which unlocks one of three passive abilities. Each one shapes how his burn behaves.
| Passive | Effect |
|---|---|
| The Stoked | Deals 1 extra damage each time a target is burned, plus a backup skill that grants 1 mana when a target in range is burned. |
| The Inferno | Increases attack range by 2 and stacks 25 burn on all enemies in range after a 20-second stall period. |
| The Detonator | Deals 10 burn damage to every enemy in range each time he casts. |
The Detonator has the most immediate payoff of the three. It adds guaranteed burn on every cast rather than waiting on a stall timer, and the burn damage grows by another 10 each time you rank Funke up further. That makes it the most consistent pick for an aggressive fire build.
Rank A and Rank S modifiers
Funke rewards a fast, front-loaded playstyle, so his modifiers should push damage rather than defense. At Rank A, Arcane Destruction is the standout. It raises his ability to land critical hits by 100 every time he casts, turning repeated Wildfires into heavy crit output.
At Rank S you get more options. Burning Casts is the natural fit, applying 50% burn to all enemies in range and doubling down on his core damage type. If you want a change of pace, Stalled Cold applies 35% frost to all enemies in range instead, which is an odd but functional way to add crowd control on a fire mage.
Best teammates for Funke
Funke wants a durable front line and a second source of status damage. Two heroes cover both needs cleanly.
- Ming: a melee ally who also spreads burn with his attacks. He holds the front row as a vanguard while Funke fires from range, and the shared burn keeps enemy health draining.
- Pimenta: a tank who applies poison. Layering poison on top of Funke’s burn stacks two damage-over-time effects, dropping enemy health noticeably faster.
Funke’s base stats at Rank C
These are the values Funke starts with when you first recruit him at Rank C.
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Max HP | 650 |
| Base Attack Damage | 21 |
| Base Attack Speed | 0.47 |
| Attack Range | 4 |
| Crit | 15 |
| Attack | 0 |
| Magic | 25 |
| Defense | 27 |
| Attack Speed | 0 |
| Max Mana | 85 |
| Mana Regen | 4 |
| Starting Mana | 25 |
| Mana Lock (s) | 1 |
| Move Speed | 1.5 |
| Projectile Speed | 6 |
Funke’s starting magic of 25 is what makes his kit tick, since both his fireball damage and his burn scale from it. Prioritize magic-scaling gear like Robes, keep him protected in the back line, and lean into burn stacking through The Detonator and Burning Casts. Do that, and he carries early fights while setting up the status-stacking core that Ming and Pimenta round out.
