Guildrun Ming Build: Best Abilities and Teammates

A ranked breakdown of Ming's burn-focused vanguard kit, his strongest modifiers, and the allies that keep him swinging.

A ranked breakdown of Ming’s burn-focused vanguard kit, his strongest modifiers, and the allies that keep him swinging.

Ming is a vanguard in Guildrun, one of the classes built to charge the front line and soak pressure while chipping enemies down over time. He is a drifter in the lore, kept around by the Guild for how useful he is rather than how dependable he is, and that usefulness comes from a kit that spreads burns to weaken whatever he is standing next to. He pairs naturally with other burn dealers and gets tougher the more you invest in him.

Quick answer: Run Ming as a burn-spreading front-liner. Keep his Rank C passive Inner Flame, upgrade to The Searing at Rank B for an active flame stun, then take Bulk Formation and Burning Restoration at Rank A/S for extra HP and lifesteal off burning enemies. Field him alongside Funke and a burn-spec Fiona.

Ming’s abilities by rank in Guildrun

Ming starts at Rank C with a passive rather than an active skill, which is unusual for a melee hero. As you roll a duplicate in the shop or hit a campfire, you can push him up the ranks and unlock stronger effects. Most of his kit revolves around burns and the Rush attribute, the short movement-speed buff that triggers at the start of a fight.

Rank C: Inner Flame

Inner Flame is Ming’s starting passive. It spreads burns to enemies next to him and deals extra damage scaled off his maximum HP. If Ming has the Rush attribute active for 5 seconds, those burns are doubled, so any effect that extends or triggers Rush directly increases his damage output.

Rank B: The Searing, The Tempered, or The Enlightened

Reaching Rank B gives you a choice of three abilities. The Searing is the only active among them, which makes it the default pick for most builds. The other two lean hard into Rush and reward teams that stack it.

AbilityTypeEffect
The SearingActiveDeals flame damage, adds burns for each Rush effect triggered, and stuns adjacent enemies.
The TemperedPassiveEvery 15 seconds of Rush, all vanguards gain 25% more HP.
The EnlightenedPassiveDuring a 0-second Rush, Ming is immune to damage and all Rush effects gain 1 second.

Take The Searing when you want Ming to actively deal damage and control a cluster of enemies with the stun. If your run is already built around chaining Rush across the team, The Tempered and The Enlightened turn that momentum into survivability instead.

Rank A and S: Bulk Formation and Burning Restoration

At the top ranks, Ming’s modifiers focus on staying alive. Bulk Formation gives him 25% more HP and extends that bonus to the heroes standing next to him, which makes him a strong anchor for a tight formation. Burning Restoration is the pick if you are committed to burns, since Ming recovers HP whenever he auto-attacks or is auto-attacked by an enemy that is already burning. Together they let him hold the front line through longer, harder waves.

Best teammates for Ming

Ming’s burns are most effective when someone else is stacking damage over time alongside him. Two heroes stand out as reliable partners.

HeroWhy they pair with Ming
FunkeA ranged mage who throws fireballs and stacks burns, doubling down on Ming’s chip-damage plan from the backline.
FionaTake her Rank B passive The Lustrous and she becomes a burn-spreading vanguard, adding a second front-line burn source.

Building around burns means the effect spreads faster than any single hero could manage, and Ming’s Burning Restoration lifesteal scales directly with how many enemies are on fire. The more burn pressure the team applies, the more Ming heals.

Ming’s base stats at Rank C

These are Ming’s starting numbers when you first recruit him at Rank C. His high HP and defense, paired with a slow attack speed and zero base attack or magic power, confirm his role as a durable body that wins through burns and positioning rather than raw hits.

Guildrun’s whole appeal is bending heroes past their starting class, so treat this as one strong direction rather than the only one. As a burn-and-tank vanguard, Ming rewards a formation that keeps him surrounded by enemies and a team that keeps them all on fire. Lock in The Searing early, layer on Bulk Formation and Burning Restoration as he ranks up, and he holds the line while Funke and a burn-spec Fiona finish the job.
