Halloween: The Game — Prologue Challenge 5 Guide (No Alerts)

The patrol timings, walk-versus-sprint windows, and restart signals that let Michael leave Smith’s Grove unseen.

The fifth Prologue challenge in Halloween: The Game asks for something the rest of Smith’s Grove actively discourages. Michael Myers starts the chapter heavily sedated after a Thorazine injection, unable to sprint at first, and the challenge card wants him out of the sanitarium grounds without a single orderly noticing him. One flashlight beam landing on Michael ends the attempt on the spot.

Quick answer: Run Challenge 5 as its own attempt with zero combat. Let the first orderly move toward the road, wait behind the ambulance until two orderlies have passed, walk past the road orderly while his back is turned, take the woods and ravine instead of the main road, toggle the power box the moment the nearby orderly walks off, pry the gate, then wait for the last orderly to leave before touching the back of the station wagon.

What Challenge 5 checks in Halloween: The Game

The condition is narrow. Michael has to complete Escape From Smith’s Grove — the objective chain runs from ESCAPE THE SANITARIUM through FIND A WAY TO LOWER GATE, TURN OFF THE POWER BOX, PRY OPEN THE GATE, and finally REACH THE BACK OF THE STATION WAGON UNDETECTED — without any orderly becoming alerted to him.

Two things people fail on that are not part of the check. A general alarm sounding elsewhere on the grounds does not automatically kill the run, and your star rating at the end is irrelevant. An attempt that finishes with zero stars still registers the challenge. The only question that matters is whether a patrolling orderly spotted Michael.

Note: challenge progress banks when the chapter finishes. Quitting or restarting after the run looks clean throws the work away, so play the Prologue through to the closing cutscene.

Do Challenge 5 on a separate run

Five of the six Prologue challenges want Michael grabbing, terrifying, and executing orderlies. Terrifying one into fleeing, three bare-hand executions, the telephone pole kill beside the power box, the throw over the railings, and the full sweep of all 12 orderlies all fit comfortably into a single aggressive attempt. Challenge 5 wants the exact opposite and does not blend with any of them.

Split the work. One quiet run for Challenge 5, one combat run for the other five. Trying to fold them together produces more resets than it saves, because every grab you take on the stealth attempt is a chance for a nearby patrol to notice.

The no-alert route through Smith’s Grove

Once control returns after the opening, walk down the stairs and hold there. The first orderly needs to move away toward the road before Michael follows. Do not try to get ahead of him.
Post up at the corner of the stone wall and watch for his flashlight to appear further down the road. That light is your cue, not a timer. When you can see it, turn around and walk back up the steps.
Tuck in behind the white ambulance and stay there. The first orderly passes fairly quickly, escorting an inmate. He is not the one you are waiting on.

The ambulance is the first reliable hiding spot — hold here until both orderlies have moved through.
Wait for the second orderly as well. He takes noticeably longer because his movement is tied to activity further down the route, so the first flashlight vanishing is a false signal. Count two before you leave cover.
Walk back down the stairs toward the road orderly and read his position. You want him standing on the left side of the road with his back to you, sweeping his light away from your path.
Slip past him at walking speed. This is where most attempts die — rushing here makes enough noise to turn him around, and being caught in the beam sends you straight back to the SMITH’S GROVE, ILLINOIS / OCTOBER 30, 1978 card.

Walk, never rush, while the road orderly faces left.
Once he is behind you and distance has opened up, switch to Rushing with Shift and sprint down the path into the woods. A patient stands along here and can be ignored entirely.

Drop into the rocky ravine and follow it through. An orderly patrols on the ground above, so keep low in the channel and do not climb out early.
Loop back up through the trees rather than rejoining the main road. The road carries the heavier patrols, and the woods line bypasses all of them while the FIND A WAY TO LOWER GATE objective is active.

Looping uphill through the woods keeps Michael off the road patrols while the lower gate objective is live.

Power box, gate, and the station wagon

The last stretch is tighter than the woods because there is no cover to sit in while you think. Read the flashlight sweeping toward the stairs near the power box and start moving only after it turns away.

Hold near the power station until the orderly beside it walks off. Do not approach while his light is still covering the box.

Approach the power box only once the nearby orderly’s flashlight has moved off it.
Use the Toggle Power prompt on the box. The objective flips to PRY OPEN THE GATE immediately, and that noise puts you on a short clock.
Go straight to the chain-link gate and use the Pry Open prompt without pausing. Lingering here is the most common way a returning orderly interrupts the run.
Run down the path toward the station wagon and stop before the open ground. Check both the route ahead and the right-hand side, since clearing the orderly in front of you does not mean the crossing is empty.
Wait for the final orderly to move away from the car, then approach the back of the station wagon. If the interaction prompt does not appear the instant Michael arrives, stand still for a beat — a late prompt is normal, and backing away only exposes you again.

When to restart instead of pushing on

There is one reset signal worth acting on early. After you leave the ambulance section, watch the next orderly you reach. He should continue along his patrol. If he is standing still when he should be walking, the timing windows ahead no longer line up, and every later section has to compensate for an NPC parked in the wrong place. Restart there — you have invested almost nothing at that point.

Everything else is worth playing out. Hearing an alarm is not proof of failure, and a scrappy-looking run can still register.

Confirmation comes after the closing cutscene, when the challenge card marks Challenge 5 as complete on the chapter results. If it registers, the no-alert condition held, whatever the rest of the run looked like — and you can go straight back into Smith’s Grove for the combat challenges without worrying about staying quiet.
