Haniel is the A-Rank Psyche buffer almost every Neverness to Everness account will own at launch, since she's tied to pre-registration milestone rewards. She's not a flashy main DPS. She's a setup unit who drops her portable speaker Hootie on the field, hands the team a flat ATK boost based on her own Base ATK, and triggers a follow-up attack called Ensemble whenever the active character racks up enough hits.
That single mechanic decides everything about how she's built. You stack ATK, you keep Hootie alive, and you pair her with attackers who hit fast enough to keep the Ensemble cycle running.

Haniel at a glance
Haniel belongs to the Sterry Express faction and uses a Solid-type Arc. She's classed as a buffer with light DPS responsibilities, but she's not meant to stay on field long. Her job is to plant Hootie, fire her Ultimate when needed, and rotate out.
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | A-Rank |
| Element | Psyche |
| Arc type | Solid |

How Haniel's kit actually works
The whole rotation hinges on two abilities and a single buff window.
Her Skill, Silent Moonlit Forest Guardian, throws Hootie onto the battlefield. While Hootie is active, every team member gains an ATK bonus scaling off Haniel's Base ATK. Whenever the active character lands an attack, Hootie picks up a stack of Four-Part Harmony, capped at one stack per 0.5 seconds. Once it hits four stacks, Ensemble fires off a Psyche AoE around Hootie. Recasting refreshes the timer, and Hootie sticks around when you swap characters.
Her Ultimate, A Melody Named Haniel, puts her into Paranormal Ace state. The team gets a second ATK bonus on top of Hootie's, every Ensemble trigger spawns a stronger Ensemble - Symphony around the active character, and the active character's next attack gets bonus damage for 3 seconds. While she's in Paranormal Ace, Hootie's duration timer is paused, so you don't lose buff uptime by ulting.
The two passives mostly support her own DPS contribution. It's Friendship! drains a chunk of the enemy's ATK and adds it to the team after a Nova reaction ends. It's Bond! gives Haniel Plot Armor stacks (boosting Paranormal Cannon ricochets) every time the active character triggers Ensemble.

Best Arcs for Haniel
Arcs are the weapon system. Two stand out as her best options.
| Arc | Rank | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Blow up the Crowd | S | Stackable ATK buff for the active character when the wearer deals damage. Adds 12% Psyche DMG plus up to 10 stacks of 2% extra Psyche DMG when Haniel is on field. Best raw scaling for both her buff and her personal output. |
| The Forgotten | S | Heavy HP stat plus a conditional 20% ATK while above 50% HP, swapping to 20% DEF below it. The cleaner choice if you don't have Blow up the Crowd or want a survivability buffer. |
| Time Bandit | A | Adds 90 Break Intensity for 10s after casting a Skill, and unlocks the Picky utility Arc for opening lockable objects in the world. A solid free option early on. |
Blow up the Crowd is the best-in-slot pick because it scales Haniel's ATK directly, which feeds straight into the buff Hootie hands to allies. The Forgotten is a strong runner-up if you want consistency without burning premium pulls.
Best modules and Cartridge sets
Modules (sometimes called Cartridges) work like artifacts in other gacha titles. Four-piece set bonuses are where the real value lives for Haniel.
| Set | 2-piece | 4-piece |
|---|---|---|
| Speedy Hedgehog | Charge Efficiency +12% | +15% ATK to all allies for 20s after casting Ultimate (does not stack) |
| Shadow Creed | ATK +10% | Wearer's ATK +25% for 20s after casting Skill |
Speedy Hedgehog is the better fit if you're leaning into Haniel as a pure team buffer, since the bonus stacks on top of her Ultimate buff. Shadow Creed is the pick when you want her to contribute more personal damage during her Skill window, especially if she's standing in for a sub-DPS.
One trap to watch: the Speedy Hedgehog 4-piece doesn't stack with itself, so don't run two Speedy Hedgehog users in the same team.
Mainstat and substat priority
| Slot | Priority |
|---|---|
| Sands (mainstat) | ATK% |
| Goblet (mainstat) | Psyche DMG% or CRIT DMG |
| Circlet (mainstat) | CRIT Rate |
| Substats | ATK% > CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > Flat ATK > Energy Recharge |

Skill priority
Level her abilities in this order to avoid wasting upgrade materials on low-impact nodes:
- Resonance (Prequel, then Sequel) when available
- Skill — Silent Moonlit Forest Guardian
- Ultimate — A Melody Named Haniel
- Basic Attack — Genesse Technique
- Support / QTE — Easter Egg Time
Her Skill is the highest priority because it's both the buff and the Ensemble engine. The Ultimate scales the buff further, but Skill uptime matters more in a typical fight.
Awakening priority
Haniel's Awakening nodes are unusually flexible because Neverness to Everness lets you choose which node to slot at each level. The two that change her uptime the most are A2 and A6.
| Node | Effect | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| A6 — Finale! For the coming dawn! | Reduces Hootie's cooldown by 4s | Highest |
| A2 — Legendary! The g'old back row window seat! | Increases Hootie's duration by 4s | Highest |
| A3 — Assemble! The hero team is formed! | +20% Crit Chance in Paranormal Ace state | High |
| A5 — Crisis! Shattering trust! | +30% Psyche DMG in Paranormal Ace state | High |
| A1 — New here! Genius transfer student reporting in! | Paranormal Cannon ricochets up to 6 times | Medium |
| A4 — Seaside! Beach episode! | +100% bonus DMG on the next attack after Ensemble in Paranormal Ace | Medium |
A2 and A6 stack into permanent Hootie uptime, which is the entire point of running Haniel. Pick those first. The Resonance Prequel boost levels her three core abilities, and Sequel adds 12% team Crit DMG during Paranormal Ace.

Best team compositions
Haniel slots into almost any composition because her buff is element-agnostic. The trick is picking a main DPS who hits often enough to keep Hootie's Four-Part Harmony stacks ticking.
Daffodill burst team
| Slot | Character | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Daffodill | Stagger and Chaos DMG, triggers Nova with Haniel |
| Buffer | Haniel | Hootie ATK buff, Ensemble follow-ups |
| Sub-DPS | Baicang | Incantation Esper, triggers Discord reaction |
| Support | Sakiri | Second ATK buffer, more Discord triggers |
This setup leans on Daffodill's break-DPS profile and uses Haniel's Psyche to enable Nova detonations. Sakiri layers on a second ATK buff so the team's overall multiplier ceiling stays high.
Reaction-focused team
| Slot | Character | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Daffodill | Primary damage, triggers Nova |
| Sub-DPS | Hathor | Combines with Psyche for Stain Cycle reactions |
| Sub-DPS | Chiz | Applies Remora slow effect |
| Buffer | Haniel | Team ATK and Ensemble support |
This composition is built around chaining elemental reactions. Hathor and Haniel together trigger Stain Cycle, making enemies more vulnerable, while Chiz layers on Remora to slow priority targets.
Charge-focused team
| Slot | Character | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Esper Zero | Cosmos main damage |
| Sub-DPS | Nanally | Anima follow-up |
| Sub-DPS | Hathor | Lakshana reaction enabler |
| Buffer | Haniel | Universal ATK buff |
Use this when you want a flexible launch-roster team without leaning on premium pulls. Haniel's buff is element-neutral, so it works regardless of who the active hitter is.

Rotation and how to play her
Step 1: Open the fight by switching to Haniel and casting Silent Moonlit Forest Guardian. This drops Hootie, applies the team-wide ATK buff, and starts the Four-Part Harmony stack counter.
Step 2: Swap immediately to your main DPS. Hootie stays on the field and keeps buffing while the active character builds Harmony stacks through normal attacks. Every four stacks, Ensemble triggers automatically.
Step 3: When Haniel's energy is full, swap back and fire A Melody Named Haniel. This activates Paranormal Ace, layers a second ATK buff on top of Hootie's, and upgrades every Ensemble trigger into Ensemble - Symphony for the duration.
Step 4: Swap back to your DPS for the burst window. The Ensemble - Symphony procs do significantly more damage than base Ensembles, so this is when you want your highest-damage rotation running.
Step 5: Refresh Hootie before its duration ends. With A2 and A6 unlocked, you can keep it on field nearly permanently. Use her QTE (Easter Egg Time) on swap-ins for a free Psyche projectile.

Stat targets at level cap
Build priority is straightforward: maximize her Base ATK first because that drives the buff value passed to the team, then layer on CRIT for her own damage contribution.
| Stat | Target |
|---|---|
| ATK% | As high as possible (mainstat + substats) |
| CRIT Rate | ~60-70% |
| CRIT DMG | ~120%+ |
| Energy Recharge | Enough to fire Ultimate once per rotation |
| Psyche DMG% | Goblet mainstat if available |
Should you build her?
Yes, if you have the resources. Haniel is free from pre-registration, her buff applies to any team, and her Resonance Sequel adds team-wide Crit DMG that scales with anyone you put next to her. She's not the strongest unit in the game on raw numbers, but she's the most universally useful buffer at launch.
Skip the heavy investment if you already have a stronger S-Rank buffer like Sakiri pulled and slotted as your primary. In that case, Haniel works as a backup or a second buff slot in dual-buffer comps, but she doesn't need to be your main upgrade priority.
