Hellraiser: Revival – How to Sneak Past the Sister of Mercy

Slip through her room untouched, grab the Inventory Capacity Upgrade, and reach the Genesis Configuration without triggering a reset.

Slip through her room untouched, grab the Inventory Capacity Upgrade, and reach the Genesis Configuration without triggering a reset.

The Sister of Mercy is a late-game threat in Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival that cannot be killed. Bullets do nothing except give away your position, and one touch from her ends the encounter instantly. Clearing her room is entirely a stealth problem: stay out of her sight line, use bottles to pull her attention, and work your way to the Genesis Configuration on the far side.

Quick answer: Never shoot her. Move pillar to pillar, throw bottles away from your position to redirect her, and reach the Genesis Configuration to clear the section and unlock the “So Much For The Cat And Mouse Shtick” achievement.

How the Sister of Mercy detection works

She is immune to every weapon you carry, so any attack only alerts her. When she notices you, the entire room floods red, she flies straight to your location, grabs Aiden, and kills him on the spot. That resets the whole encounter back to the start, which is why patience matters more than speed here.

Her vision is tied to a spotlight. Whenever the light sweeps toward an area, she is about to look there. If you are not tucked behind a pillar or another solid object when that happens, she spots you. Noise also matters, since broken glass on the floor makes sound as you walk across it.

Bottles sit on counters and tables throughout the room. Throwing one in the opposite direction from your hiding spot pulls her away and buys the seconds you need to move.

Left side: the first crossing and the Inventory Capacity Upgrade

As soon as you regain control of Aiden, head left. Grab the bottle from the counter and tuck in behind the pillar.
Throw the bottle away from your hiding spot to draw the Sister of Mercy off. While she is distracted, go to the cart and push it aside to open a path, then hide behind that cart and wait until she looks elsewhere.
Walk slowly along the edge of the path across the glass to keep the noise down. Hold behind the pillar until she turns away, then move to the far end where a dead cultist slumps in a chair.
Crouch beneath the stairs, then pivot toward the rear of the cultist’s chair and collect an Inventory Capacity Upgrade. Take the bottle from this spot too; it will serve as a diversion on your way back toward where you began.

Right side: pillars, the second cart, and the bathroom

Keep to the room’s right edge, weaving close to the pillars and crouching beneath their built-in tables. Track the spotlight; when its beam lands on you, take cover before she turns to look.
At the second cart in your way, take a bottle from a nearby table and send it flying away from your route. Push the cart aside and stay concealed behind the pillar until she has gone by. The route ahead is blocked, so enter the room to your right rather than continuing along it.
Hide behind the painting until she drifts to the other side of the room. Step carefully around the broken glass and enter the bathroom. She cannot follow you in there, so reset your nerves before leaving through the far door.
Slip behind the bar, take its bottle, then hurl it to divert her attention again.

Final sprint to the Genesis Configuration

With her distracted, climb the stairs on your right and start pushing the cart. This knocks over a bottle and alerts her no matter what, so stealth is over at this point. Commit fully and sprint along the path, then run across the lighting fixtures toward the Genesis Configuration.

Do not stop or hesitate once she is alerted. If she catches you on this run, it is an instant kill and a full restart, so keep moving until you physically reach the box.

How to confirm you cleared it

Reaching the Genesis Configuration ends the segment immediately and pops the “So Much For The Cat And Mouse Shtick” achievement. Once you see that unlock, the Sister of Mercy section is behind you and you can continue on your way through the game.
