Winning in Hide In Pixels comes down to one thing: disappearing into a giant pixel-art painting more convincingly than the player standing next to you. Each match is a head-to-head duel, and the game rewards the person who matches the canvas most cleanly before the clock stops.

Quick answer: Color each block of your character to recreate the pixel art, then stay still in shades that merge with the design and conceal yourself better than your rival. The first player to take 2 rounds claims the match.

How a match is decided

Every round starts with a large pixel-art painting displayed on an easel. You and one opponent go head to head, each trying to hide inside that image. When the round ends, whoever blended in best takes the round.

Matches are a race to two. The first player to win two rounds wins the game outright, so you can afford to lose a single round and still come back. Stringing wins together also builds a win streak, tracked on the lobby leaderboards alongside top playtime.

How to blend into the painting

Walk up to an open easel in the lobby. Boards show their status as 0/2 Players or 1/2 Players, and a free match pays $250 in cash to the winner.
Read the painting before you move. Look for a region where your character color lines up with the pixels around it. Busy, multicolored areas give you more spots to disappear into than flat blocks of a single shade.
Paint your character block by block so your body matches the picture behind you. The closer each block matches the pixel it covers, the harder you are to pick out.
Freeze and hold position directly on the matching pixels. Movement breaks the illusion, so stay still and let the opponent fail to spot you until the round ends.

You can rattle your opponent with jumpscares, flash bangs, screen shakes and other troll tools. Throwing those out while they are trying to study the canvas can buy you the edge in a close round.

What winning gets you

Round wins pay out cash and push you up the reward track. Here is what each win total unlocks.

AchievementReward
Win a round$250 cash
Reach 3 winsSecret Item chair
Consecutive winsWin streak on the leaderboard

The Secret Item is a mystery chair locked behind a 0/3 win counter in its lobby menu. Once you hit three wins, the requirement clears and the Claim button becomes active, which is how you know it worked. Cash you earn can also go toward chairs like Light, Aura and Beanbag from the Chairs menu.

Hard Mode and where to find tougher paintings

Some easels are marked Hard Mode. These use more detailed canvases, such as a snowman or dense patterned artwork, which leave fewer clean spots to hide in and demand tighter block-matching. Hard Mode boards are tied to 16+ Pro Servers rather than the standard lobby.

If you are chasing streaks, the plain paintings are the safer place to rack up wins, while Hard Mode is where the challenge and the bragging rights sit. Either way, the formula stays the same: match the pixels, freeze, and let your opponent be the one who gets spotted first.
