Dracula waits at the top of his castle in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, in the Court of the Night district of the Master’s Quarters. Each of the two fights has two forms with separate health bars. You start against a humanoid Dracula on the throne room carpet. After that, he drops Rose onto a broken rooftop under the eclipse and fights her as a winged demon. Your first win plays the normal ending. A second fight, later, can roll the true ending.
Quick answer: Go from the Clock Tower’s East Summit Mirror of Life, through Isaac’s arena, into the Master’s Quarters. Stay close to the humanoid form. Against the winged form, keep moving and get off the floor when the magma sphere appears.
Dracula boss stats and immunities
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Area | Master’s Quarters |
| District | Court of the Night |
| Health | 7,666 |
| Attack | 60 |
| XP | 1,200 |
Dracula has more status immunities than any other boss you meet before him. Bleed, burn, freeze and petrify do nothing to him. The same goes for Chronomantic Dive’s slow, the Freezing Path link, Infernal Pyre’s launch, slam-downs and any launch into the air. He is also immune to the whip hook, so you can’t grapple onto him. Chains of Justice, the spell Saint Louis drops in the Palace of Justice, works against both forms.

When you reach the final stretch, the map objective changes to “Find Dracula and defeat him.” Your route goes west and upward through the Clock Tower. You fight Isaac along the way, then climb into the Master’s Quarters.

Clock Tower to the Master’s Quarters

Master’s Quarters to the throne room

On your initial visit, a cutscene comes before the actual battle. Rose strikes Dracula down, but Death intervenes and restores him. The curse then consumes Rose, unlocking the “Belmont’s fall” trophy. She wakes before a mirror alongside the Ferryman and her spirit companions. Next, return to Dracula at the Master’s Quarters to begin the fight. Before entering, use the Equipment menu to review your Arcanas and loadout.
Humanoid Dracula: Throne room attacks and openings
The first form fights on the flat red carpet below the staircase, with a gargoyle statue on each side. He dissolves into bats and reappears at different spots on the carpet. Any time he is standing on the floor, you can hit him. You also get roughly three seconds of free hits when the fight opens. Use them, then dash back right away, because his first move is a stomp that sends a wave of fire along the ground.
- Fire pillar: he raises a hand and a narrow column of flame bursts up from the floor. Stand right next to it, outside the fire, and keep attacking him.
- Cape slash: He extends his cape, then whips it ahead, leaving red crescent trails. Either dash behind him and strike, or retreat beyond its reach.
- Cape-and-claw combo: the third hit knocks Rose back hard, so get out after the first strike.
- Ground slam: he rises, hangs in the air for a moment, then crashes down around himself. Move away as soon as he starts floating.
- Finger snap: a wall of fire rises from the floor, and fireballs fly through it. Jump over the fireballs.
- Low orbs and skulls: from a corner, he fires flaming shots along the floor, sometimes three in a row. Jump them, then close in.
At 50 percent health, a gold flash marks his stronger phase, and the room turns a deeper red. His snap now creates several fire walls that move toward you. He uses two pillars at once, then three, to box you into a small part of the arena. Stay to one side of the group and attack between volleys. When he stomps up close, dash behind him. He also drops fireballs from the ceiling in this phase. They behave like environmental hazards, so they are easy to avoid if you keep your footing.
You can’t parry the fire pillars. You can neither parry nor dodge his blood blast explosion or his grab, which stuns Rose and keeps hurting her while she is held. The safe answer to both is distance. When his bar runs out, Rose lands a black-and-white finishing slash and Dracula drops to one knee.

You can drink a potion in the middle of the fight, and “HEALED” appears on screen when it works. Your supply is limited, though. Once it runs out, trying to heal shows “NO MORE POTIONS.” Save one for the magma sphere in the second form.
Winged demon Dracula: Rooftop attacks and the magma sphere
Dracula grabs Rose and the floor gives way. She falls through darkness onto a cracked stone bridge. A winged demon rises against the eclipse, and a second “Dracula” bar fills. The arena is a stone rooftop floating in a purple void. It has raised blocks near the center and spiked railings along the back. This form spends most of its time in the air, so constant movement is what keeps you alive.
His attack set changes at 80 percent and 50 percent health. The bat storm joins at 25 percent in the first fight. In the rematch, it starts at 50 percent and returns at 20 percent. The warning signs stay the same throughout, so the answers below work from start to finish.
| Attack | Warning sign | Response |
|---|---|---|
| Claw rush | Clawed arm drawn back, red trails | Dash, roll or jump past, hit his back |
| Swoop / dive | Rises, turns; red vertical line marks landing | Dash under him, leave the marked zone |
| Flame stream / fireball barrage | Hovers at one edge of the screen | Jump or air dash over, hit him mid-hover |
| Bat swarm | Turns into a dark cloud | Air dash clear; red ring shows where he reappears |
| Red sigil shockwave | Red circles grow in the air | Back off before they explode |
| Tracking blood orbs | Red spheres build at his side | Keep moving or slash through them |
| Arena sweep | Flies low across the whole arena | Block with Holy Light |
| Overhead fireball | Hovers directly above Rose | Dash away |
Blood orbs can be cut apart with any attack that grants an invulnerable slash. His sweeping strike covers the arena, so jumping over him is not an option. Tap Holy Light just before a hit lands to trigger a light parry and avoid damage. You cannot slide beneath his rising claw. Keep away from his life-draining grab, which cannot be parried or dodged. Every so often, he lands and makes a basic melee attack that is easy to evade. Watch your footing, as he can remove sections of the floor.
When the magma sphere phase starts, Dracula hovers over the cracked, glowing orb at the arena’s center as spikes cover the floor. Stay above the ground by flying, standing on a raised block, or moving to the outer ledge. Keep attacking until the orb drops, then move away before it explodes. The hit that drains this bar sets off a black-and-white finisher, with Dracula breaking apart into bats and smoke.

Defense also changes how much this fight hurts. With 20 points less DEF, his attacks hit noticeably harder. Extra DEF above that point helps much less. Rose gains DEF with each level and with each DEF UP book she reads.
Weapons and Holy Light for the Dracula fight
You need Holy Light for the arena sweep. Rose gets it in the Paris Streets, at the Stairs to the Tower Roof district. Holding the button creates a halo that clears Chaos Shard. Pressing it right before a hit performs the protective parry.

Three Legendary tier 4 weapons are commonly brought into the rematch. All three have 100 ATK and 30 stagger power.
| Weapon | Type | Attack power | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two-handed sword | 44 | Arthur (Notre-Dame) | |
| Dual swords | 33 | Notre-Dame | |
| Fists | 26 | Hall of Mirrors |
Excalibur fires light projectiles when you attack, which helps against a boss who rarely stays on the ground. Holding and releasing Attack charges a stronger swing. Its combo finisher is Blade Dive, and it builds 5 mana per hit.

War and Famine adds another hit to the combo when you press Attack again as the previous strike lands. Its Blade Flurry finisher leaves a patch on the floor that empowers Rose. Each hit generates 2 mana.

Bernhard’s Wrath deals more damage the more hits you land, and it heals Rose as her combo grows. Its finisher is an Uppercut, and it builds 2 mana per hit.

Dracula rematch and the true ending
Everyone sees the same sequence after winning for the first time. Once the demon form falls, the “Die monster! You don’t belong in this world!” trophy unlocks. Dracula drops to his knees as Rose identifies herself as Rose Belmont and vows to hunt the night. He releases the curse, while the Arcana spirits protect her. Pink lightning brings down the castle, unlocking the “The hunt goes on” trophy. An epilogue explains that the curse wasn’t stopped soon enough, and the game returns you to the title screen so you can continue playing.
Your rematch takes place in the same throne room, with the same two forms and attacks. At the Ferryman’s Wharf, choose Master’s Quarters from the destination list. You’ll arrive at the Sanctuary of Solitude gate. Cross the Grand Staircase bridge, speak with Leon, Joan and Medusa again, then enter the Throne Room Antechamber. An extended cutscene follows. Battle starts as Dracula vanishes from his throne in a bat swarm and the “Dracula” bar fills.
The true ending has one condition. Rose must own The Self, and Absolution must be equipped at the moment the winged form crashes down on the Castle Rooftops. Without both, the normal ending plays again. You get The Self and Absolution by defeating the Doppelganger in the Gallery of the Four Virtues at Notre-Dame. The Four Virtues trials lead up to that fight.

You can tell the condition worked when the scene changes after the fall. Dracula kneels again and dissolves into blood, and Sypha’s spirit appears and tells Rose to combine the power of her cards. In a glowing void, Leon, Joan, Sypha and the other spirits say goodbye. A column of light pierces the eclipse, Dracula is destroyed, and the “Curse lifted” trophy unlocks. The castle falls, sunlight returns to Paris and Notre-Dame, and the epilogue and credits play.
