Within the Index, Redcap is the first creature listed for Songkeeper’s Grove, and it is among the easiest scrooms to collect. Found in the starting area, it has a Common rating and responds to an instrument on the open grass near the village. Here are its recorded details and the steps to attract one in SCROOMS.
Quick answer: Stand on the grass by the spawn sign in Songkeeper’s Grove, equip an instrument in hotbar slot 1, play the catch minigame, and a Common Redcap will register at a frequency between 18.7 Hz and 31.2 Hz.
Redcap rarity, area and frequency range
Redcap has the Common rating, and its Index card uses “Common Scroom” as the heading and “A red little guy!” for the description. It occupies the first spot among the 15 entries on the Songkeeper’s Grove page.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Common |
| Area | Songkeeper’s Grove (starting area) |
| Index position | Entry 1 of 15 |
| Frequency range | 18.7 Hz – 31.2 Hz |
| Description | “A red little guy!” |
Every Redcap you catch arrives with its own frequency somewhere inside that printed range. The number shows up on the backpack card and in the catch message. Across several catches the figures landed at 21.3 Hz, 22.5 Hz, 22.8 Hz, 27.6 Hz and 29.3 Hz, all within the 18.7 Hz to 31.2 Hz band.

Redcap appears on the lawn near the spawn marker in Songkeeper’s Grove, amid its red wooden homes. The game chooses which scroom responds to your song; you cannot choose one yourself. Since Redcap is Common and native to the starting area, it is readily found where you begin.
How to catch Redcap
Every scroom uses the same catch flow. Bring an instrument such as the Tamer’s Guitar and keep it in hotbar slot 1 before you begin.
The Tamer’s Guitar works fine for Redcap, and the catch zone is forgiving for a Common creature, so clean timing matters less here than it will for rarer scrooms.
How to confirm the catch worked
A catch prints a message reading “You caught: Redcap! Frequency: <n> Hz” with the exact frequency for that specimen. The scroom also drops into your backpack as a card showing the same number.

Before you catch one, Redcap’s Index card is a black silhouette labelled “???”. The first Redcap you bring in fills that card, and the entry then keeps a running record of your progress.

Stats and tones on the Index entry
The Redcap entry tracks a “Stats:” block and a “Tones:” block. Stats list the Highest Frequency you have caught so far and the date of your most recent catch.
Tone labels can appear before the scroom’s name; examples include “Melodic Redcap” and “Harmonic Redcap”. One scroom may have both labels, as in “Melodic Harmonic Redcap”. On the card, a gold star denotes a caught Melodic tone, while a cyan star denotes a caught Harmonic tone.
- Melodic — shows “Caught:” with a date once logged.
- Harmonic — shows “Caught:” with a date once logged.
- Resonant — shows “Uncaught” until one is caught.
Other scrooms in Songkeeper’s Grove
If you are filling out the Songkeeper’s Grove page, Redcap shares the Common tier with Toastbud, Gloombell and Bluebell. The rarer residents of the same area climb to Uncommon and Rare.

| Uncommon | |

Redcap is the simplest of these to secure, which makes it a sensible first target before you chase the Uncommon and Rare scrooms or hunt the Melodic, Harmonic and Resonant tones that complete its Index card.
