Walk up to Cai Cai and talk to him to start the Wandering Tale. He explains that he wants to cook a special dish for his “wife” and needs your help to gather three things: a firestarter, fresh pheasant, and fresh mushrooms.

A Savory Revelation quest steps

Talk to Cai Cai at Peace Bell Tower. Exhaust his dialogue so the Wandering Tale properly starts and the three ingredient objectives appear. Once the quest is active, you are free to move away from the tower to look for each ingredient.

Find Cai’s Firestarter near Heaven’s Pier. Follow the path toward Heaven’s Pier, higher up the mountain from Cai Cai’s position. You will come across a small camp occupied by militiamen. Defeat them, then search the camp area near the campfire to pick up the item labeled Cai’s Firestarter.

Buy a Fresh Pheasant from the hunter on the mountain path. Head back down toward Peace Bell Tower along the same road. On the way, you will see a hunter with a stall and a large box beside him. Speak to the Hunter and purchase the Fresh Pheasant for 250 coins. This fulfills the pheasant requirement.

Collect Fresh Mushrooms near the Peace Bell Tower cliffs. This ingredient is the easiest to miss and is what trips most players up. Start at Peace Bell Tower, then do the following:

Stand at the tower and face away from its entrance so that your character looks south. You should be looking toward the cliff edge rather than back along the approach road.

Climb or drop carefully down the cliff directly south of the tower until you reach a narrow ledge below. You are looking for a spot that is only a short way down, not the very base of the mountain.

On this ledge, look for a distinctive tree. Players describe it as either a single tree that splits into three main trunks or a tree marked by a rabbit at its base. The Fresh Mushrooms sit on the ground near this tree, among a small cluster of trees and a red mushroom oddity nearby.
