How to Complete the Echeyakee Quest in WoW Classic

Echeyakee is a Horde quest in The Barrens that sends you after Whitemist, the white king of the savannah cats. You get it from Sergra Darkthorn at The Crossroads, travel to a pile of giant kodo bones, and blow a horn to call the beast out for a fight. The whole thing plays out in one zone and takes only a few minutes once you know exactly where the lair sits.

Quick answer: Accept Echeyakee from Sergra Darkthorn at The Crossroads, run northeast past Grol’dom Farm to the kodo bones around 56, 17, use the Horn of Echeyakee, kill the level 16 white lion, loot Echeyakee’s Hide, and return to Sergra Darkthorn.

Where to find Echeyakee’s lair in The Barrens

Northeast of The Crossroads, beyond Grol’dom Farm, Echeyakee’s lair lies on the mountain’s northern slope amid giant kodo bones, near 56, 17. Two enormous kodo ribcages stand on either side of a small clearing; blow the horn there.

Head north out of The Crossroads until the road forks, then keep to the northeast toward the base of the mountains. Grol’dom Farm is your landmark; the lair is up the hill behind and to the north of it.

As you reach the mountainside, watch for the large horned skull and scattered rib bones on the ground. Savannah Huntresses prowl this area, so expect roaming cats near the bones.

How to summon and defeat Echeyakee

Clear the Savannah Huntresses around the bones before you do anything else. They respawn quickly and tend to link into the fight, so make a little breathing room first.

Stand between the two kodo ribcages, open your bags, and use the Horn of Echeyakee. Blowing the horn plays a short animation and summons the beast to his lair.

Echeyakee, a level 16 white lion, charges the moment he appears. Back away from the bones as you fight so you do not pull respawning Savannah Huntresses into the mix. He is a straightforward kill for a character in the mid-to-upper teens.

Once he dies, loot his corpse to receive Echeyakee’s Hide. Your quest tracker updates to Echeyakee’s Hide 1/1, which confirms the objective is done.

The horn is a single use and disappears when blown, and Echeyakee attacks the nearest player rather than whoever summoned him. If someone else is already fighting him, or another player is standing closer when he spawns, you can lose the kill and waste the horn. If that happens, abandon and re-accept the quest from Sergra Darkthorn to get a new horn.

Turn in Echeyakee’s Hide and rewards

Run back southwest to The Crossroads and return to Sergra Darkthorn to hand in the hide. Completing the turn-in casts Echeyakee’s Grace on your character and grants experience and Orgrimmar reputation. You will know it worked when the quest clears from your log and she calls out your victory over the great cat.
