How to Complete The Magical City of Dalaran in WoW Forever

The Magical City of Dalaran is a travel quest that moves your character off the Zephras Isle starting zone and into Dalaran for the first time. There is nothing to kill and nothing to collect. The entire objective is transport, and the only tricky part is knowing where the flying ship departs from and that it runs on its own timer.

Quick answer: Take the quest from Supreme Magister Elasdrin Evengale in Valanaar, ride the skycutter from the end of the Valanaar pier to Dalaran, then turn it in at The Sky Enclave.

Elasdrin Evengale stands inside a building in Valanaar, the main settlement on Zephras Isle, with the usual yellow exclamation mark overhead. If you are coming from elsewhere on the island, Valanaar sits near Falaath Village and the Shen’dar Highlands on the zone map.

Route from Valanaar to Dalaran

Speak to Elasdrin Evengale in Valanaar and accept the quest. The chat log confirms it with “Quest accepted: The Magical City of Dalaran”.

Leave the building and head through Valanaar toward the docks. You will pass the Flightmaster on the way, but that NPC is not part of this quest — keep going past them.

Run up the long wooden pier and continue to the platform at the very end. The High Order Dockmaster stands in this area and handles the skycutter announcements.

Remain on the platform until the ship comes in. It may be absent when you arrive; once it reaches the dock, the dockmaster announces, “The Dalaran City skycutter is now in port. Travelers heading to Dalaran City may board!”

Walk aboard the skycutter once it docks. A second announcement marks the departure, after which the ship lifts off from Zephras Isle and climbs through the clouds.

The skycutter is a timed transport, not an instant flight path. If the platform is empty when you arrive, stay put and wait for the dockmaster’s arrival message rather than logging out or running back.

Stay on board through the transit. The flight crosses a loading screen and then passes over Hillsbrad Foothills, the Alterac Mountains, Lordamere Lake, and Silverpine Forest before lining up with Dalaran’s arrival platform.

Disembark at Dalaran and run inside to The Sky Enclave. Stepping off the ship also triggers the zone discovery, which awards 155 experience on its own.

Turning in the quest at The Sky Enclave

The turn-in NPC is inside The Sky Enclave, the arrival hall you walk into after leaving the skycutter platform. Look for the yellow question mark above Denara’s Vanguard and hand the quest in there. Dalaran itself is flagged as a Sanctuary, so nothing in the city can attack you while you find the NPC.

Your chat log is the confirmation. After handing in, you will see “The Magical City of Dalaran completed.”, followed by “Experience gained: 90” and “Reputation with Kirin Tor increased by 100.” The quest also drops out of your quest log at that point.

The last check is the follow-up. Denara’s Vanguard immediately offers Welcome to Azeroth, and picking it up is the signal that the Zephras Isle leg of your character’s journey is done and the Eastern Kingdoms content is open to you.
