Customizing your Spotify playlists with unique cover art adds a personal touch to your music collection. Whether you're curating a playlist for workouts, relaxation, or your favorite hits, having an eye-catching cover can make it stand out. In this guide, we'll explore how to create stunning cover images using the web app Replace Cover and how to set them as your playlist covers on Spotify.

Creating custom album art with Replace Cover

Replace Cover offers a user-friendly interface that makes designing album art a breeze. When you visit the site, you'll find a selection of stock images under the Things section that you can use as the foundation for your cover.

If you'd like to customize the background and text colors, navigate to the Themes section. Here, you can choose from a variety of themes to match your aesthetic preferences.

To personalize the text on your album art, simply hover over the existing text and click to edit it. You can modify the content to reflect your playlist's theme. Additionally, you have the option to resize and realign the text using the editing tools provided. If you're feeling adventurous, click on the Shuffle button to generate a random combination of images, themes, and text, which you can further customize as you like.

After finalizing your design, click the Download button to save the image to your device.

Currently, Replace Cover offers a selection of basic editing tools that are both fun and easy to use. While the options are somewhat limited, the developers are planning future updates to introduce features like a wider array of images, integration with Unsplash for stock photos, more control over text placement, and even the ability to connect directly to your Spotify account to update playlist covers without leaving the app. It's worth checking back periodically for these enhancements.

Setting your custom cover image on Spotify playlists

With your new album art ready, the final step is to apply it to your Spotify playlist as a custom cover image.

Note: Currently, you can change playlist covers only through the Spotify Desktop app. This feature isn't available on the mobile app yet. However, once updated, the custom cover will display on both your desktop and mobile apps.

Step 1: Launch the Spotify Desktop Player and sign in to your account. Navigate to the playlist you wish to customize. Move your cursor over the current playlist cover image; when the Edit icon (a pencil or camera) appears, click on it.

Step 2: The Edit Playlist view will open. Click on the Edit Image button (represented by three dots) located at the top-right corner of the current cover image. Choose the Replace Image option, then browse and select the custom cover image you downloaded from Replace Cover.

Step 3: After selecting your image, click the Save button to apply the changes. Your playlist will now display your custom cover art.

Now, you can enjoy a more personalized listening experience with custom cover images for your playlists. Not only does this enhance the visual appeal of your music library on Spotify, but you can also use these images on other platforms that allow cover customization.
