Deleting Cookies in Microsoft Edge

Clearing all your cookies on Microsoft Edge is a simple and very straightforward process. Moreover, you can also choose between deleting cookies for a specific website or deleting all the cookies for all the websites.

To clear all the cookies from Microsoft Edge, first, head to the Start Menu and click on the ‘Edge’ tile present in the ‘Pinned apps’ section. Otherwise, you can also type Edge in the menu to perform a search for it.

Then, on the Edge window, click on the ‘ellipsis icon present in the top right corner of the window to expand the overflow menu. Then, from the overflow menu, locate and click on the ‘Settings’ option to proceed. This will open a separate tab inside the browser window.

Now, on the ‘Settings’ tab, click on the ‘Cookies and Site permissions’ tab present on the left sidebar to proceed.

Then, on the next screen, click on the ‘Manage and delete cookies and site data’ tile present right underneath the ‘Cookies and data stored’ section to proceed.

After that, locate and click on the ‘See all cookies and site data’ tile present under the ‘Cookies and data stored’ section to continue.

In Microsoft Edge, you can either delete the cookies individually for websites, or you can delete all the cookies for all websites together.

To delete all the cookies for all the websites together, click on the ‘Remove all’ button present in the top right section of the window.

In case you wish to delete cookies for individual websites, you can either use the search bar present in the top right corner of the webpage to locate the website or you can manually scroll down the list to locate it.

Once you have located your desired website, click on the chevron (downward arrow) present on the far-right edge of the tile to expand the section, and then click on the ‘Trash’ icon present to the right of each category of cookies used by the particular website to clear cookies for it.

And that’s about it, cookies are now cleared from the Edge browser. Though if you wish to clear cookies every time you close the browser, you can easily set that as your preference from the browser settings.

To clear cookies every time you close the browser, from the ‘Settings’ screen on the Microsoft Edge browser, click on the ‘Privacy search and services’ tab present on the left sidebar of the window to proceed.

Then, from the right section of the window, scroll down to locate the ‘Choose what to clear every time you close the browser tile present under the ‘Clear browsing data’ section on the page.

On the next screen, locate and click on the ‘Cookies and other site data’ tile to enable the option. Now, all the cookies for all websites will be cleared when you exit Edge.

However, in case you wish to add some websites to the exception list for the deletion of cookies. You can do so by clicking on the ‘Add’ button present on the far right edge of the ‘Don’t clear’ button. This will bring a separate overlay window on your screen.

Now, from the separately opened window, type or copy+paste the URL of your desired website that you do not wish to delete cookies for. Then, click on the checkbox preceding the ‘Include third-party cookies on this site’ option if you wish to receive relevant adverts based on your browsing history, skip it if you do not wish to enable the feature. Lastly, click on the ‘Add’ button present on the overlay window to add the website to the exception list.

Repeat the above step to add more websites to the exceptions list if you wish to do so.

Now, Edge will clear all the cookies except for the websites present in the exceptions list every time you exit the browser.


Deleting Cookies in Google Chrome

Deleting cookies in Chrome is a tad bit different process to that of Microsoft Edge, however, by no means does it make the process cumbersome or difficult.

To delete cookies on Chrome, first, head to the Start Menu and type Google Chrome to perform a search for it. Then, from the search results, click on the Google Chrome tile to proceed.

Now, on the Google Chrome window, click on the ‘kebab menu’ (three vertical dots) icon present at the top right corner of the window to reveal the overflow menu.

Then, from the overflow menu, locate and click on the ‘Settings’ option from the list. This will open a separate tab on the browser window.

Now, on the separately opened tab, from the left sidebar present on the window, click on the ‘Security & privacy’ tab to proceed.

After that, from the right section of the window, click on the ‘Clear browsing data’ tile to proceed. This will bring up a separate overlay window on your screen.

Then, on the separately opened overlay window, click on the ‘Basic’ tab. After that, click on the drop-down menu present right beside the ‘Time range’ option. Next, click to select a time range that you wish to clear the cookies.

Then, click on the checkbox preceding the ‘Cookies and other site data’ present on the window and uncheck any other checkbox if already checked. After that, click on the ‘Clear data’ button present in the bottom right corner of the window to clear cookies.

Note: This will log you out of all the websites that you are currently logged in to. However, you will not be logged out of your Google account(s).

That’s it, the cookies have been cleared from the Google Chrome browser. However, you can also set your preferences in the browser to clear cookies every time you close the browser window.

If you wish to clear cookies for a specific website in Chrome, from the Settings window of Google Chrome, click on the ‘Security & privacy’ tab present on the left sidebar to continue.

Next, click on the ‘Cookies and other site data’ tile present on the right section of the window to proceed.

After that, scroll down to locate and click on the ‘See all cookies and site data’ option to move to the next screen.

Then, on the next screen, you can either search for a particular website by either using the ‘search’ bar present in the top right section of the window or you can scroll down the list manually.

Once you have located the desired website, click on the ‘Trash’ icon present on the far right edge of each website tile to delete the cookies for it.

You can also delete cookies for an individual website that is currently open in the Chrome window.

To do so, click on the lock icon present in the top left corner of the Chrome window to reveal the context menu.

Then, click on the ‘Cookies’ option present in the window to proceed. This will open a separate window on your screen.

Next, from the separately opened window, locate and click on the ‘Remove’ button present in the bottom left corner of the window to remove all the cookies used by that specific website.

To clear cookies every time you close the browser window, from the Settings window of Google Chrome. Click on the ‘Security & privacy’ tab present on the left sidebar to proceed.

Then, from the right section of the window, locate and click on the ‘Cookies and other site data’ option to continue.

After that, on the ‘Cookies and other site data’ screen, scroll down to the ‘General settings’ section and locate the ‘Clear cookies and other site data’ tile, then click on the following toggle switch to bring it to the ‘On’ position.

Now, every time you close the Chrome window, all of your cookies will be cleared.


Deleting Cookies in Mozilla Firefox

The process to delete cookies on Mozilla Firefox is largely similar to that of Chrome with slight changes here and there. That being said, the process is still pretty plain sailing and easy to follow.

First, head to the Start Menu and type Firefox to perform a search for it. Then, from the search results, click on the ‘Mozilla Firefox’ tile to open the browser.

Next, on the Mozilla Firefox window, click on the kebab menu (three vertical dots) present in the top right corner of the window to reveal the overflow menu. After that, locate and click on the ‘Settings’ option from the overflow menu to proceed. This will open a separate tab in the browser window.

Then, in the Settings window, click on the ‘Privacy & security’ tab present on the left sidebar to proceed.

Next, from the right section of the window, scroll down to locate the ‘Cookies & Site Data’ section. Then, click on the ‘Clear Data’ button present under the section. This will bring a separate overlay window on your screen.

Now, from the separately opened window, click on the checkbox preceding the ‘Cookies and Site Data’ option. Then, click on the ‘Clear’ button present on the bottom section of the overlay window to clear all cookies.

You can also clear cookies for selected websites in Mozilla Firefox in case you do not wish to clear cookies for all the websites or if you are facing an issue with a specific website, this option might suit you the best.

To clear cookies for selected website(s), on the ‘Privacy & Security’ page, head to the ‘Cookies & Site Data’ section. Then, click on the ‘Manage Data’ button to proceed. This will open a separate overlay window on your screen.

Now, from the separately opened window, you can either search for a website by typing its name in the search bar present on the topmost section of the window. Otherwise, you can manually locate the website from the list present in the window.

Once you have located the desired website, click on it to select and then click on the ‘Remove selected’ button present in the bottom left corner of the window to remove the cookies for the websites.

Moreover, you can also delete cookies every time you exit Firefox. In case you do not wish to keep yourself logged into websites nor do you wish to have your preferences saved, this option could suit you well.

To remove cookies every time you close Firefox, on the ‘Privacy & Security’ settings page, locate the ‘Cookies and Site Data’ section on the page, and then click on the checkbox preceding the ‘Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed’ option present right under the section.
