How to Find the Seashell Seat for Barboach in Pokopia’s Bubbly Basin

A dive into the Deep Sea retrieves the clam-shaped seat that unlocks the Ocean Rest Spot habitat.

The Seashell Seat is a treasure Barboach asks you to recover during the “Build the beautiful building!” Important Request in Bubbly Basin, the underwater area added in Part One of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass. It sits in the pitch-black Deep Sea directly below where Barboach waits, and handing it back is what unlocks the Ocean Rest Spot habitat.

Quick answer: Drop off the ledge into the Deep Sea beneath Barboach in Bubbly Basin, light the area with Lampions, pick up the clam-shaped Seashell Seat on the lit platform, then swim back and give it to Barboach.

Before you can start Barboach’s request

Bubbly Basin is paid DLC, so the request only appears if you own the Expansion Pass and have updated to version 2.0. The “Build the beautiful building!” chain also requires reaching Environment Level Three in Bubbly Basin before Barboach’s part becomes available.

Tip: Grab a few Lampions on your way over. The Deep Sea is completely dark, and placing lights is the only way to see the seat once you drop down.

Where to find Barboach in Bubbly Basin

Barboach sits near the ruined tower, not far from where you meet Totodile. Starting at the Ocean Temple build site, walk forward toward the stairs, then head right and follow the path past the ruined tower. Barboach is at the end of that path, just to the right of the bridge.

Talk to Barboach twice to begin the fetch. The deep water you need to dive into is the dark area directly below where Barboach is sitting.

How to retrieve the Seashell Seat from the Deep Sea

Drop off the edge below Barboach and dive straight down into the Deep Sea. Falling almost directly into this spot lands you in a hallway-like space where the seat is hidden.

Spin the left joystick to descend faster. The deeper you go, the darker it gets, so speed up the drop to reach the seabed quickly.
Place your Lampions to light the surrounding area. Once the space is lit, the treasure becomes visible on a green platform.
Walk up to the clam-shaped shell and pick it up. This is the Seashell Seat, a Clamperl-like shell that opens to reveal a plush cushion inside.

Swim back up to the surface and return to Barboach. Talk to it again to hand over the seat.

What unlocks and how to confirm it worked

Delivering the Seashell Seat completes Barboach’s request, and you’ll see the “You completed Barboach’s request!” confirmation. This unlocks the Ocean Rest Spot habitat blueprint (No. 019). You can then build that habitat anywhere you like to meet Barboach.

Once the Ocean Rest Spot is placed, talk to Barboach one final time to wrap up its part of the “Build the beautiful building!” request. Barboach has the Search specialty, which is handy for finding items around your settlement.

If you can’t find the seat

The most common problem is the darkness. The Deep Sea is pitch black, so without Lampions placed nearby, you will swim right past the seat without seeing it. If you dropped in and landed off to the side, look for the hallway-like corridor and the lit green platform, which is where the clam shell rests.

Getting the timing on the dive right helps too. Aim to fall almost straight down from Barboach’s ledge so you land in the correct pocket rather than drifting into a neighboring section of the seabed.
