How to Get Rainbow Seeds in Grow a Garden 2 (Rainbow Event)

Rainbow seeds are some of the best things you can collect in Grow a Garden 2, and the good news is that you no longer have to spend Robux to get them as you did in the first game. They drop out of the sky for free during a special nighttime weather event, then grow into a random crop that carries a fat value boost when you sell it. That makes them one of the quickest routes to a big payout once they grow.

Quick answer: Rainbow Seeds only drop during the Rainbow Moon event at night. When the on-screen notification appears, run to each seed that lands on the map and press E to pick it up before another player reaches it. Public servers spawn more seeds than private ones.

What rainbow seeds do in Grow a Garden 2

A Rainbow Seed is a Mythic special seed. When you plant it, it grows into a random crop, but that crop is guaranteed to come out in its Rainbow form with the Rainbow mutation attached.

Rainbow fruit carries a 15x value multiplier, so a single rainbow harvest sells for many times more than the same crop in its normal form. Fill a plot with rainbow plants and every harvest becomes a big payout, and stacking several together multiplies the effect across your whole garden.

The catch is the randomness. A rainbow seed can grow into any plant in the game, anything from a basic Carrot to a rare Dragon’s Breath, so you never know exactly what you will end up with until it sprouts. You cannot pick the result, so each seed is a chance at a low-tier plant or a top-tier one, all carrying the same Rainbow boost when you sell.

Note: The Rainbow mutation is the highest-value variant mutation in the game, ranking above the Gold mutation that Gold Seeds produce. Each plant can only hold one mutation at a time, so a Rainbow crop keeps that mutation until it regrows.

How to get rainbow seeds during the Rainbow Moon event

Rainbow Seeds appear only while the Rainbow Moon is active, a weather event tied to the night cycle. This is separate from the daytime Rainbow event that gives a luck boost, so you need to track the day and night cycle to catch the right one. While the Rainbow Moon runs, seeds have a chance to rain down across the map, and you collect them by hand before they vanish or someone else grabs them.

Wait for the Rainbow Moon to begin at night. Watch for the text notification that pops up on screen when the event starts so you can move the instant it triggers.
Scan the ground for seeds falling from the sky. They can land anywhere on the map, so keep moving and check the whole area rather than camping one spot.
Run to each seed and press or hold E to pick it up. Several seeds can drop in one event, so a quick player can collect more than one before the timer runs out.

The event window lasts around two minutes, so speed is everything. You know the pickup worked when the seed lands in your inventory and you can plant it on your plot. Grow it like any other crop, and the resulting rainbow plant will carry the value multiplier when you harvest and sell it. Once the event ends, you have to wait for the next Rainbow Moon to roll around.

Tip: Pets that boost movement speed help you reach drops faster, which matters most on a crowded server. One known issue is seeds occasionally spawning out of bounds, where no one can reach them.

Rainbow seeds can fall anywhere but do so only at night.

Public servers vs private servers

Where you play has a real effect on how many seeds you can collect. Public servers have noticeably higher spawn rates, and several seeds can drop inside the same two-minute window. Private servers see far fewer drops. The trade-off on a public server is competition, since other players are racing you to the same seeds and can use gear to knock you down and snatch a drop first.

Server typeSeed spawn rateMain drawback
PublicHigher; multiple seeds per eventYou compete with other players
PrivateNoticeably lowerFewer seeds overall

Note: On public servers, other players can use gear to knock you down and snatch seeds before you reach them. Head straight to each drop and grab it quickly rather than taking a scenic route.

Because Rainbow plants are visually obvious, they also draw thieves once they are growing. Standing in your garden during the night event and using defensive plants helps you keep what you collected. The night cycle is short, so you only need to watch your plot for a couple of minutes.

Gold seeds work the same way

There is a matching golden event that drops gold seeds using the exact same pickup mechanic. Like rainbow seeds, gold seeds grow a random crop from the seed pool and apply a guaranteed mutation, in this case the Golden mutation, and that crop can be single-harvest or multi-harvest. Both variants sell for far more than ordinary plants, so collecting either type is a fast way to stack up Sheckles.

Between the two, the Rainbow mutation carries the larger multiplier and is the rarer of the seeds, so a Rainbow plant generally outsells a Gold plant of the same crop. If both events are an option, prioritize the Rainbow Moon. Once you have planted a Rainbow Seed, let it grow as normal, and the finished Rainbow plant carries the mutation when you harvest and sell it.

The only thing you really need to track is the notification text. Whether the Rainbow or golden event is starting, that on-screen alert is your cue to drop what you are doing and start sprinting toward the seeds.
