The Drowned is a miscellaneous title in Fisch that floats above your character’s name once you fall into the hidden whirlpool inside Vertigo. It takes no fishing milestones and no rod mastery, just a trip to a cave that only opens when a Strange Whirlpool appears out in the ocean.

Quick answer: Enter a Strange Whirlpool in the ocean to reach Vertigo, follow the cavern path past the crystals, and jump into the hidden whirlpool (Vertigos Dip) to unlock The Drowned.

What you need before starting

The whole route depends on one thing spawning in the world: a Strange Whirlpool. You cannot reach Vertigo without it, and it only shows up when the right conditions line up.

  • A boat or Jetski to cross the open ocean quickly.
  • Foggy weather, which is when the “A strange whirlpool has opened.” notification appears.
  • The whirlpool itself, marked by a vertical aura beam and red circling rings.

Spawn your boat or Jetski from the Shipwright at the docks while you wait, so you can set off the moment the notification pops up.

Reach Vertigo through the Strange Whirlpool

Once the notification shows, head out across the open ocean. Scan the water for the vertical aura beam rising from the whirlpool’s center, which makes it easy to spot from a distance.

Drive straight into the center of the spinning whirlpool with the red rings. Entering it teleports your character down into the Vertigo cave system.
Vertigo is very dark. Open the Menu, go to Settings, then Appearance, and raise the Extra Brightness slider so you can see the pathways and ledges clearly.

Inside the cavern you follow a winding rock path toward a drop. The route passes the glowing green and purple crystal clusters and the NPC Synth, so use those as landmarks.

Walk along the main rock ledge, wrapping around past the large neon crystal formations and heading deeper into the cave.

Continue onto the narrow rock border path above the drop. Move carefully, since falling off the wrong edge means climbing all the way back up.
Reach the narrow gap or crevice that opens onto the glowing hidden whirlpool hole. This opening leads down to the area labeled Vertigos Dip.
Jump down directly into the hidden whirlpool. The drop into the dark pit is what triggers the title.

How to confirm you unlocked The Drowned

During the drop, the display goes dark for a moment. At its bottom, Received title : [The Drowned!] appears, and you reappear on a ledge in Vertigo with the title unlocked.

To equip it, open the Menu and go to the Titles section. The Drowned will now be in your list alongside any others you own, ready to display under your nametag and in chat.
