How to Get the Wolfshredder Bow in Gothic 1 Remake

The Wolfshredder is one of the strongest bows you can pick up early in Gothic 1 Remake, dealing 56 point damage. The catch is its steep 43 Dexterity requirement and a slightly awkward retrieval method that leans on a single magic scroll. If you are running a ranged build, it is worth the detour.

Quick answer: Get a Telekinesis scroll, travel to the shipwreck near the Fogtower east of the Old Camp, climb to high ground above the wreck, and cast Telekinesis on the corpse holding the bow to pull it to you.

Wolfshredder stats and requirements

The Wolfshredder is a long bow that sits in the middle of the game’s bow lineup by raw damage, but it punches far above most weapons you can reasonably reach in Chapter 1. You cannot equip it until your Dexterity hits 43, so plan to pump points into that stat before you head out for it.

Get a Telekinesis scroll first

The free Wolfshredder is wedged in the hand of a corpse on top of a shipwreck, and there is no way to walk up and loot it normally. You need a Telekinesis scroll to yank it down. There are three ways to get one before you make the trip.

Look inside the chest on the shipwreck nearest the northeast stone gates.
From the bridge to the New Camp, go right and follow the trail to the waterfall, then drop down and pass through it into the hidden cave. The scroll sits on a wooden crate inside.
Buy one from Baal Cadar in the Swamp Camp for 30 ore nuggets.

Pull the Wolfshredder from the shipwreck

The shipwreck sits by the Fogtower, just east of the Old Camp. Bring some way to deal with the beach before you arrive, because the approach is dangerous.

Take the path on the right side of the Fogtower down to the beach. Fire Lizards patrol the shore and their flamethrower attacks hit hard. Do not melee them. Use ranged ice spells or another bow to kill them from a distance.

Find the corpse on the tallest part of the wreckage. It is hanging near the mast with the bow in its hand. You need to get within range of it, either by climbing directly up to it or by dropping down from the lighthouse path on the cliff above.

Once you are in position, cast Telekinesis on the corpse. The Wolfshredder drops to you, and you can pick it up. You will know it worked when the bow lands at your feet and enters your inventory.

Note: If you take the lighthouse route and drop down, have the Acrobatics skill first. Without it, the fall can do enough damage to kill you before you even reach the bow.

Patch 1.0.2 changed the free Wolfshredder spot

The shipwreck pickup worked reliably before patch 1.0.2. With that update, the developers swapped the Wolfshredder at that corpse for a Hunting Bow, so the free grab may no longer land you the weapon you expect on a fully updated game. If you reach the wreck and only find a Hunting Bow, that is the change at work, and your reliable route becomes buying it instead.

Buy the Wolfshredder from Cavalorn or Wolf

If the free route does not work for you, two traders stock the Wolfshredder for 344 ore starting in Chapter 1. Cavalorn carries it, and so does Wolf, who you can find on the balcony of a hut in the southwest corner of the large cave settlement inside the New Camp. Buying it skips the Telekinesis puzzle entirely, though you still need 43 Dexterity to actually wield the bow.

Either way, the 56-damage Wolfshredder rewards an early Dexterity investment and carries a ranged build comfortably through the opening stretch of the Colony. Get your Dexterity to 43, secure the bow, and you have a weapon that outclasses nearly everything else you can find this early.
