How to Kill the King in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator (Fastest Ending)

The exact shell, bearing, and elevation that end the campaign in a single self-destructing shot during Fire and Light.

The exact shell, bearing, and elevation that end the campaign in a single self-destructing shot during Fire and Light.

One of the endings in IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator lets you turn your colossal turret on the monarchy you serve and put a round straight into your own king. It is also the fastest way to close out the campaign, though it wraps up with your machine going up in flames and taking you with it. If speed is all you care about, the setup takes place inside the Fire and Light mission and comes down to one HE shell aimed at a fixed bearing and elevation.

Quick answer: During Fire and Light, load one HE shell followed by one powder charge, set the bearing to 327.9 degrees, raise the gun elevation to 57.12 degrees, then fire. The shell lands on the king, and your Iron Nest self-destructs to end the run.

What you need before firing

This ending only becomes possible once you have cleared the opening mission that unlocks Fire and Light. The regular objective in Fire and Light is to triangulate an enemy position and fire on it. You are going to ignore that objective entirely and aim somewhere the game never asks you to.

Because this is not a sanctioned target, you do not need to plot anything on the tactical map or run the usual measurements. The bearing and elevation below are fixed values, so you can skip the ballistic calculation and go straight to laying the gun.

The firing solution to kill the king

Load a single high-explosive (HE) shell, then follow it with one powder charge. This is the only ammunition setup you need for the shot.
Loading the HE shell
Load one HE shell and a single powder charge.
Set the bearing to 327.9 degrees. Wait for the turret to finish its rotation before doing anything else, since the machine takes time to swing that much iron into place.
Calibrating the turret
Dial the bearing to 327.9 degrees and let the rotation complete.
With the shell loaded and the turret settled, raise the gun elevation to 57.12 degrees. Match both numbers exactly, because even a small error here sends the round somewhere else.
Gun elevation in IRON NEST
Set the elevation precisely to 57.12 degrees.
Fire the shell and wait for it to land. Open the map and you will see the round has struck a civilian target, which is the king.

How to know it worked

Once the shell lands on the king, your Iron Nest self-destructs in a ball of fire and you die with it. That fiery collapse is the confirmation. It is a grim way to finish, and it is the quickest ending the game offers. If you would rather see the story through properly, skip this shot and complete the mission objectives as intended.
